I believe the trick is for ASDA staff to claim the likes of housing benefit , tax credits etc stating that they are on minimum hours , then pile on the overtime ( However if someone is off even once in a fortnight , they get a overtime ban ) , then before the next time they are assessed for benefits , stop the overtime .Big Daz wrote:dvbuk55 wrote:You are entitled to earn some money and still claim benefits so really we're looking at a benefits cheats charter. It also one of the tactics used by Walmart who are highly criticised in the US for paying low wages on sub standard contracts and people claiming benefits and health care from the state. Some states in America refuse to let them open stores.banner18 wrote:I'm pretty sure that you wouldn't lose any benefits for refusing a job with a 1 hour contract. If so, then its simple, take the job, do only the one hour a week, and claim the rest from the government as tax credits.
So why would RML do that? Lets see now, Wallmart =Asda = :lfo = RML
So effectively ASDA is subsidized by the rates and taxpayers , the sort of Public / Private partnerships that :mfo likes ! and the light touch regulation that MrMcBean likes and got this country into a mess .
Apparently at ASDA :lfo sent out personalized coat hangers with " No jacket required inscribed " - a very apt 80's corporate album title ? - to give this sleeves up , part of the team impression
Then " coincidentally " with RM , manager's jackets had to be dispensed with , and all the linos started wearing black and white , same colours as the Prison Service !
there was also a craze for the shaved head look and Hellmail call this forum - a Skinhead's Reunion message board !
Try googling ASDA / GMB Industrial Relations - you get some " interesting " results - the GMB message board is very interesting too - e.g. " I went to an induction meeting and the supervisor said , we don't like Unions here and started laughing " - " Join the union and you immediately become a non person " :lfo
