That's a reference to the late 1800's. Not seen a porter in years.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑Yesterday, 22:06Sometimes it's a case of we either run it upside down or we send it as manual. Some mail is prone to jamming if run through the right way up.GRS wrote: ↑Yesterday, 21:27Ah……so the usual “ everyone in the business can do what they want & f**k up but the bods on delivery have to be 110%” scenario!!! GotchaSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑Yesterday, 19:55Sometimes mail will get run through the machines upside down if it'll run through the machines better. Once it has been run upside down it has to stay upside down, if they get fed into a CSS the right way up, the CSS will reject them.tramssirhc wrote: ↑Yesterday, 15:47Everything has to work at 100 BSI. No missorts, every letter the right way round, every label on the rm2000 correct.....
I mean how many clearly addressed Tracked items does a DO receive a day that is for a DO 100s miles away yet 1 item goes astray on delivery and it’s hell to pay. Delivery have to live in a completely different world to the rest of the laissez faire attitude that exists in RM. You’ve only got to look on Robin to see the complete disparity in sections of the business - half the staff living the high life whilst the ones at the real bottom end struggle day in day out under huge pressure to achieve 100% in every little thing they do!!!!!!!!!
Most MCs now have packet sorting machines and you've also got the super hubs so in a lot of cases MC staff don't even see any. If the york header card is purple and white then the york is a direct one from a superhub which MC staff don't touch. It gets wheeled off the artic and straight around to the bay for the DO.
At least you have porters. Everytime they bring them in, in a MC they get axed after a couple of days to save hours.tramssirhc wrote: ↑Yesterday, 21:39Its always been the same. The porters and sorters were always better paid than the letter carriers.
