It’s that time of year

I used to tip postie and binmen. A binman would knock/ring doorbell to wish residents a Happy Christmas, and I would have a card with tip inside ready.
After the refuse collections were privatised they weren't allowed to do that. I would still have the card with tip ready and if I saw them I would take it out. But now there are different crews for grey, blue and green bins and I don't usually see them. I have this year's card ready in case I see them this week.
I've always left a card with tip for postie taped to door, though I was a bit worried someone might nick it. But it wasn't taken this year. Postie doesn't come every day now and there are different ones, not a regular. Again I'll keep it in case I see him/her this week.
I haven't seen a paperboy for decades, presumably they still exist elsewhere.
