We haven't done the whole duty to spec since mid October. First class fell by the wayside a fortnight ago and it's been packets only since then. One frame is attempted once a week contingent on massive parcel relief. It's beginning to look like a motorway pileup with a constant stream of 7½ tonners plowing into the flaming wreckage. Sisyphus at least managed to get the boulder all the way up the hill before it fell back down.

They're asking people to come in on Sunday no to deliver the letters. Very few takers if any.
and STILL we`re expected to faff around with D2Ds. Beggars belief.

Not just any door to doors, last week we had Royal Mail d2ds

Most rounds in my office delivered mail to delivery points on about 1 occasion last week, 2 days of parcels. This week coming no one has been asked to work either their day off or start early. It’s designed to fail. But the planner is doing 6 days a week, 11 hours a day?

Makes no odds what you’re asked to do, changes to the deliver window made Xmas impossible in most places and nobody is going to deliver Xmas on goodwill…..not worth doing OT now when it means staying out way beyond daylight and definitely not worth OT on a Saturday or Sunday….u reap what u sew….once Royal Mail removed any chance of an early finish, that was the only attraction left in the job post privatisation…
My thoughts exactly 👏

Didn't put a letter in the frame today so along with half Fridays mail Monday is going to be interesting. Will no doubt get the usual "do your best but make sure you take the tracked" from management
When you have over 300 tracked items between 2 of you on a Saturday that becomes a challenge

It's absolutely wild the difference in parcel volumes between duties in ours. ]
50 for some, 250 for others.

This is the same all year round with walk size discrepancies. It's really fair that some people don't complete or end up back dead on time still not completed. Whilst others come back wash their own vehicles with the pressure washer or stand around smoking or waiting to clock out.

Yes we did small tracks only on both walks no large parcels, there was nearly 180 of these. We have 3/4 boxes of non tracks under both mine and my partners walk. My partner will have 8 days mail in the frame tomorrow ( Monday ) I will have 3 days on one half and 4 days on the other. It’s being managed like Xmas/Black Friday and Cyber Monday have never happened before and so the preparation for it has been non existent. Start time finish time, be the last at my prep frame but bang on time and be the first to leave bang on time. RM has lost the dressing room and I for one don’t want to be part of their ‘ TEAM ‘

We are struggling. lots on long term sick. Packet only Saturday has left a lot of the walks primed to fail next week. 3 d2ds just adds to the chaos. What a s**t- show. When I first started every walk got a student to help them at Christmas!

That's going to shoot up now that the Xmas cards are really coming through, many more walks are getting two trays of sequenced each day, with the odd one getting three. I can see the odd walk getting four or even five trays occasionally between now and Xmas.

Is it the managers at DOs choosing not to bring in agency/casuals or is it the higher ups banning them from bringing in agency/casuals?

Royal Mail about to make a fortune from understaffing. They prepped for 10% extra packets but even that has been blown out of the water. Non mail delivery is just collateral.
This!! Your first sentence. Buy shares and get the profit when the years results come in - might as well get something out of this capitalist exploitation of the minions (and I put it like that and I'm not even a socialist :arrrghhh )

Our manager said he tried to get 4 agency in a few weeks ago. 4 didn't show up at all. 1 did the Monday and that was the last seen of him. A few more have shown up but those additions are covering the high sick absentees
