By purchasing leave you are paying for RM to employ someone to do your job while on leave so it's not as if RM are losing out.

The reality is when staff are off RM now struggle to cover their duties, which is obvious from the amount of mail left in frames every single day. If they really do want the well paid (compared to new contract starters) legacy staff to leave then stopping another perk is a good way of helping them to achieving that goal?
