I remember when I first started being driven back to the office in the half crew bus version height of summer we had the side door open to try cool down

Re: No more combo vans
We lost ours last year.
Problem with us having bigger vans is there no is no room in the yard. The yard is tiny, can only just fit the smaller vans in.

To be fair to the Combos, they've been proper little workhorses. Better than the bag of s**t Doblos we had
A good clean and sterilisation of the cab, a tub of t-cut, and they'll be good to go again

Yes. Oversized is the killer - plenty of stuff will not fit the side door so it has to be crammed in through the back in sequence. The Combos were obtained with the intent of this being the traffic profile every day...SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑12 Oct 2025, 23:46Would something the size of a transit van be the minimum required size these days?

I thought RM self insured themselves.
But more to the point bearing in mind the time of year assuming the vans are still roadworthy, and have mot's why not hold on until after Christmas so they can be used as spare vans.
This outfit never ceases give the impression of being unorganized and shite.

Still in use at my old delivery unit.
I was told we get sent all the old crap vehicles from other depots that get new ones.

Re: No more combo vans
I have just realised I do not have a clue what van I am driving or what vans are in our yard, I just get in and go, why would I even need to know this information?

Re: No more combo vans
For example when during your van check you notice a brake light/headlight out or a bald tyre etc.
When you fill out the PMT form you have to fill in what type of vehicle it is.

Tyres, clutch or anything else, tell the manager, next or a few days later, we find we have a different van until the original one returns.
