There wasn't many DOs in the country not delivering households at the time afaik. The Highlands of Scotland and maybe some very rural areas of England and Wales.
Nothing to do with it.
Please explain?

The old brain cells are letting me down these days but from memory at the time the RM CEO was surprised that we received payments for D2D's and he was determined to get rid of the payments altogether, it was only because of prolonged negotiations with the union that we eventually had the delivery supplement. I'm sure someone with a better memory than me will confirm
Exactly right , Royal Mail wanted to take the d2d payment away completely and treat them as normal mail. The CWU negotiated a delivery supplement that means everyone now gets the payment.

My claim to fame (well, one of them anyway) was that I broke the news on the site because a certain someone told me on the phone that the agreement had just been ratified by the PEC.

That was a fun couple of days afterwards.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Collection staff, Mail centre staff, all drivers & night workers benefited from voting yes (these are people who mainly don’t even lift a finger to deliver d2d)
Eh....I thought only people that work in delivery offices get the delivery supplement ?
Processing and Collections get about 9 quid a week. Not sure about logistics though.
That's what I thought so quite rightly only us in delivery get the delivery supplement.

Can anyone shed any light how on earth this was ever voted in?
I know MC colleagues obviously voted for it and the few DO areas of the country that didn't actually have to deliver these contracts at the time (they all do now anyway lol.) But how did this even have a majority vote back in the day? Most delivery posties basically lost earnings after this decision.

Turkeys voting for Christmas springs to mind...
The lettercarriers did not vote for the end of individual payments for delivering unaddressed items. It was yet another betrayal by the CWU who have deliberately disorganised lettercarriers right throughout the history of postal workers.

Yep the fact that those of us on new contracts don't get the delivery supplement as well as other pay benifits the old contracts get they have created a disorganised, resentful two tier workforce doing the exact same job.. we will see what they come up with regarding trying to equal the contracts out.

The CWU uses the term 'legacy' for pre 2022 contracts. Words matter, what is said counts. Pre or post 2022 workers have the same fight - the CWU, the single biggest problem all workers face.

It wasn’t as black and white as some people would like it to have been.
By that I mean it wasn’t a straight vote on ‘Do you want to lose D2D money’ Tick yes or no.

Yep, nobody wanted to lose d2d money, it was part of a wider deal.
