PAY

We are also in negotiations over an incentive scheme that could deliver real and tangible financial benefits for members.
I hope this isn't going to be something which puts more pressure on postal workers to work harder than we already are. I'd dissuade the union from trying to put in place any incentive scheme which puts pressure on workers to stay past their time in order to hit targets. First and foremost - the workload and targets should be manageable within our time.

A quick question please.

Is the rejected 4% pay rise over 2 years or just 1 year?
Clearly says being around 4% from april this year.

They can offer me "incentives" all they like.

Unless it's 10x pay rate for overtime, I'm not staying out past my time.

We will end two-tier working and reverse the damage done by the previous Board and management team.

Funny that, it was the CWU that agreed to and told us to vote for a two tier workforce in the first place. Notice how they didn't include themselves above.

I would accept a 4x overtime rate but anything will be an improvement on the current drop in hourly pay you get for doing extra work now.

I've always done my hardest to support the union but it's becoming like groundhog day.
Martin Walsh in today's CWU Youtube video: 'Improved morale and confidence in the workplace is one of the 4 things we need to be sure of to drive our support of the optimised delivery model'.

The Union have been saying things like this for years and have done absolutely nothing to help improve morale in the workplace. NOTHING! Absolutely zero to force that change.

They could at least start by encouraging every single postie in every single office to report every single time a manager puts a foot wrong, treats someone poorly, bullies/harasses, and get these managers out of our offices, do local strikes if necessary.

I see they've mentioned incentive scheme yet again

When it reared it's ugly head on the run up to Christmas two years ago our resident early starting break skipping doorstepping easy duty runners were heard to be referring to most of the rest of us as lazy bastards and much worse because we weren't completing which prevented the office from qualifying.
The union never signed up to that nonsense scheme so more fool your fellow workers.

They did indeed say that , with years 2 and 3 at least matching inflation at the time but that doesn’t suit the agenda that most on here have sadly.

A 4%/50p per hour plus inflation for two further years is hardly going to attract/retain posties who are leaving my DO on a weekly basis for warehouse jobs etc paying up to £2 per hour more? Carry on at this rate and after the 3 years we'll have hardly anybody still working in our DO.

(All of this is set against the background of a challenging financial reality for Royal Mail)

The statement above by the CWU will be the excuse for another poor pay rise .

It’s only a challenging financial reality for RM because they’re spending so much money on non productive people on high wages.
It’s just absolute nuts - let’s employ Data Scientists and hundreds of Data Analysts watching every move a postal worker makes in the name of making us more efficient. I dare anyone to believe that it works out better financially for the company to pay these people massive wages, provide them with company vehicles and healthcare for them and their families etc etc.
The we have people making stupid videos for us to watch in WTL, people piss balling about with ridiculous apps etc etc ……When will people learn that the biggest drain on resources are non productive muppets!!!!

We just want the pay rise we deserve. Other issues should be negotiated separately.

[...] fresh USO [...] USO reform [...] USO change
The USO is not changing. Only parliamentary legislation can do that. The ODM is about skirting around this fact on a technicality (that a six day 1st class only service meets the current six day USO).
The machine stops.
