Why would they conduct for this? More likely payroll will not pay you the hours for being late or leaving early.
Don't think payroll have that power... at the moment

Why would they conduct anyone for clocking off early ? It's just more rope to hang yourself. They'll make the rounds bigger and have all the proof that it's feasible.

I would ask the Union if RM are now acting outside of agreed procedures by bypassing the 3C's and demand an answer in writing. Whilst I don't condone anyone clocking out an hour early; 10-15 minutes is not too much of a big deal in my book as long as you have done what has been asked on the day. Sure there is always work available to do somewhere but in our office the managers have sometimes gone home early. And what I would say is that if one person gets hit with conduct unfairly then it is very easy for them to isolate - but if it's a collective issue, management tend to back off.
Then wait for 10-15 mins then clock out on time - done...no hassle no issues

No fan of RM by any means but it is perfectly fair and reasonable to expect you stay until your time - no matter if there is any work or not

In many jobs staying till your paid finish time is the rule but RM has never functioned like a strict 9-to-5 office job. In some ways that's a good thing because it's efficient, boosts morale and respects the fact that your time and effort are not just about minutes on the clock but the intensity of work that you do. Most posties tend to come in early and work through their breaks to get the job done so just hanging around for 10 minutes feels less like fairness and more like surveillance and micro-management. As long as staff aren't clocking out hours before their time I really don't see the issue. If the business decides to dock pay for staff leaving early then that's different.

Surely common sense should come before management's rules. Like I said, some of our managers often leave early so why can't we? It really doesn't make any sense to be sat around waiting around for 10-15 doing nothing.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

It’s no problem leaving 10 mins early so long as you don’t start cutting off on heavier days when you might have to go 10 15 mins over. Cuts both ways and that’s fine. It’s not like we’re working in a shop where you have to man the floor til closing or lock up.

It’s all a matter of common sense.Every office is different no doubt. All the data is there for the management to study and if people are going home 10 to 15 mins early everyday that all adds up in the overall tally.Meaning more walks going and bigger rounds in the next office revision.

If it came across the wrong way fair enough but I'm not suggesting that everyone clocks off whenever they feel like it. I'm saying that RM's never worked like a strict office job and there has aways been some level of mutual trust that if you get your job done, there's a bit of flexibility at the end of it. For example, we have a few guys who like to finish a bit earlier on Saturdays so they can get to the football. You will never get that if you are forced to sit around twiddling your thumbs for 10-15 minutes waiting to clock out.

I don't condone posties who come in early for free and skip breaks but if they are then clocking off 5-10 mins early after pushing flat out, I'm not sure what they have gained but for the business it is all about how the job gets down, not just ticking done the clock.

We still have absorption in our office so that normally stops people getting done early. Why run round just to make 15 mins. I’d rather do the job properly and bring it back if needed.

No wind up - just common sense. Respect should go both ways and if someone's clearly worked flat out, maybe the business should care more about the effort than the clock. If that sounds wild, maybe its not me on the wind-up

No they don't.
Basic pay isn't linked to SISO yet.
You cannot be docked pay for signing out early or coming in late.
They can ask you work them hours back in a reasonable timeframe for lateness if it is a significant amount of time.
There is a late procedure they can follow if lateness becomes regular but it takes a few occasions for you to get in serious trouble over lateness.
If there is no meaningful work in the office when you return and you clock out five/ten minutes early what is the conduct for.
If there is work in the frames or indoor work still to be done and your refuse a request by a manager that's different.
You leave yourself open there to potential conduct.

For a long time our office has had everyone queuing at the clocking out machines to leave exactly on time. The walks are so unbalanced that it's the only fair way. Although that doesn't stop some getting back early to chat whilst others are trying their hardest and still not completing the work.

Why should you clock out early, Siso are recording you. If your finish time is 1355, queue up and clock out at 1355 and go home. Not at 1350.
Indeed. If you got special circumstances like doctors or family need you asap drop manager a text let them know in advance.
The manager is only going to get hassled from their manager why people are clocking out early.

If you are clocking out early you may as well write to your area manager and complain that your duty is too small and you need it made bigger!!
