Mailsort is "sterile" on Saturday. As I read that, do not even think about touching it

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: mail sort 3
Mailsort : Business Post, and can be either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Class. 3rd Class is identified by an 'M' instead of a 1 or 2.JACK THE RIPPER wrote:now if im correct on Saturday's we don't have to deliver mail sort 3.the question i have is how do you identify mail sort 3.what is mail sort 2 or 1.and why is walk sort mail sort differnt..no body in my DO knows the answer.
on saterday i got 2 trays first thing of mail sort mail on a round ive never done before and was doing blind so after a tray and half i put the mail sort to one side when proper mail turned up.ask my m8 next to me(10 yrs service) if i could leave this he said i dont see why not its mail sort.so thats what i did.no sooner had i bagged up when two others came over and a debate started.nobody knows the differance and till i see it writen down somewhere im leaving um..well obviously when i got back the manager had been back and told our supervisor/first aider/union rep super employee that i should go back out and deliver it.even he couldnt tell me the difference just that their is one.he said if its in the rack on its own it can stay if theirs more than one i should deliver..so i said it either has to be delivered or it doesnt which is it.....
he left mumbling incoherently(like this story)
any one help with a description or preferably a link????????
i would ask alan but last time he took a week to reply..lol
Presstream : Magazines, Periodicals, etc.
Big Book : Large Magazines, identified by the 'BB' instead of a 1 or 2.
3rd Class Mail has a 1 Week turnaround. With up to 3 Days used up by the time you get it.

I think then it is about time you had a look on the CWU website in the Letters to Branches - In particular LTB 409/04 - SDD Related Delivery Issues dated 2nd September 2004.
Bob Gibson had this to say in a letter to one of RM's men.
DELIVERY OF MAILSORT 3
The current directive allegedly emanating from the centre regarding the delivery of Mailsort 3 is nothing short of commercial suicide. We now have units delivering Mailsort items up to 4 days in advance of the due delivery date, sometimes at the expense of 1c items. It’s no wonder some of the delivery units cannot achieve consolidation when they are being instructed to deliver mail that was not taken into account when the SDD revision and office workplan was agreed. This is clearly outside the spirit of the national agreement, and if units are being instructed to deliver these items on a Saturday then it is another example of Royal Mail abrogating the national agreement.
Saturday attendances will be significantly shorter than weekday attendances. To assist this Mailsort 3 need not be scheduled for delivery and missort runs should be rescheduled to enable an earlier start on town residential delivery routes.
Now as far as I know this National Agreement still stands unless anyone knows different or can prove otherwise!

It's only Mailsort 3!
Please bear in mind, that it's only Mailsort 3, that he's talking about. MS 1 & 2, are First and Second Class Mail. It's just that they are Posted by Businesses, rather than members of the Public.smarterdarter wrote:We leave the mailsort on a saturday as it is a shorter working day, but now
with long and shorts saturday hours are the same as tuesdays so can i tell my
lyin manager that i dont do mailsort on a tuesday either?

Mailsort User Guide
How do you show that the postage has been paid?
Every mail item needs to show clearly that postage has been paid and is correct for the service required.
There are a number of different methods you can use to do this.
Printed Postage Impression (PPI)
The PPI mark is widely used by customers across a range of postal services and is issued under licence
from Royal Mail.
All items in a single mailing must carry the same PPI licence number.
It’s a convenient and practical way to indicate both service and the method of payment.
For Mailsort,Presstream and Walksort 1 and 2, the standard First and Second Class PPIs are used.
For Mailsort 3, a special PPI design using the letter M should be used – details are available from your account manager or
our website at www.royalmail.com/ppi

No mailsort on a Saturday, how difficult is it to understand Monday to Friday is not SaturdayA working day for delivery purposes is defined as Monday to Saturday throughout the year (Monday to Friday for Mailsort 3) also excluding Bank and public holidays.

No. As my post says all Mailsort 3 should have a
PPI and if it is MS3 it does not go on a Saturday.
However, if you always do what your boss says as he is always right then I guess yes it will go.
