I joined 17 years ago when we were the best in the world. I hated the job but stuck it cos of the pay. Now when i look back I can see it was a good job but each new change made it worse. If I am honest I would say it is still a good job but what pisses me off the most is that I cannot see any change for the better happening. It shouldn't have been that hard to get us back to the top again but them at the top seem to be making changes for the worse instead of better.
I will be here until I retire which until a few months ago was fifteen years but now it is heading for the twenty years. If they offer evr or a buy down I will be tempted if it is decent enough.

Have to agree doveston mate, morale is rock bottom in our office too.

The most frustrating thing is ,almost every day they come up with yet another brilliant idea,but nothing ever seems to happen.
we've been threatened now with geo-route for the past 18 months,it's like sitting on death row,if there gonna do it,just get on with it.
Most people don't like change and it's unsettling but the banters still good.
when i think about jackin it in,i make a visual point at the start of my round and when i pass again 3 hours later it seems like 10 mins,but having
worked elsewhere,i can tell you that 10 mins can feel like 3hours!

I'm enjoying it so far.

It's probably worth remembering that if you think it's just RM that's going s**t as a company to work for, it's happening to others too. I came from a company that MADE us work over and wouldn't be arsed paying over time unless it was an arranged thing ( like work on saturdays )

Also worth remembering that this forum is probably only used by a very minute amount of RM workers. Most of which are unhappy, and found this site out because of that, to discuss such problems so this is probably an unfair viewpoint on RM as a whole, just those people who are in bad DO's. Whereas people content with it, probably wouldnt bother .

Yes, I enjoy my Job. I like being a part of what's left of this Public Service, and I still hope that some level of Service will remain in years to come.

The problem, is with what's being done to this once great Public Service. It's being run as a Business now. So only those who spend large amounts of money, matter to the management. The days when individual members of the Public mattered to them, are sadly, long gone. They have also, taken to treating us, as statistics, just there to raise money. Rather than treating us as Human Beings.

Quite frankly, if I didn't enjoy my Work, and care about the Service. I would have started looking for another Job some time ago!

It is so good to hear so many positives on here for a change I agree with another poster about 10 mins feeling like 3 hours in previous jobs, i know as i have also been in a job like that and it drives you crazy man!!

It's half two, I've been home nearly 3 hours, watched a film, had dinner and now I'm off for a nap until the wife gets home. It's bucketing down outside as well. Yep, I love my job today!!!

Yes.Personally I enjoy the job more now than when I started 20 years ago,then you worked a 6 day week every week,just sunday off, I never felt I was away from the place.Plus I'd race round trying to make time just coz thats what everyone one did.Now its a 5 day week and I come in on time(not before)and just work me 318,no stress,stroll round me walk,chat to the punters,have a laugh.If I dont finish on time I cut off,no worries,the screws are the ones who are paid to worry not me

I love my job - even when it's bad it's better than many others. I work near home, have a great bunch of customers, decent people to work with when doing the indoor bit and a couple of managers who are a lot better than some I've seen described on here. Pay is way above what is available for unskilled work outside RM and I don't have to buy clothes to work in. The only real disappointment is that I cannot see the sense in the way the government and RM's Senior management are trying to weaken and dismantle a once great business in the name of progress !!!.

As employees, we have a vested interest in the success of our business, but trying to make it succeed at our expense instead of through our experience is not the way to encourage our support and enthusiasm for what we have to do.

Yes I enjoy it, even in the DO, but prefer being on the street. I've worked in the private sector, you know the place that is full of union hating, boss is always right, if you don't like it, leave t****s. (Daily Mail/Telegraph readers) Take my word for it, the private sector sucks.

We all like the job its royal mail and their tactics we dislike.
