Name and shame!pinstripe wrote: ↑09 Sep 2022, 06:39It seems that there are some posters on here, whose sole purpose in life is to be on strike. They dream of the very thought of it and live for the day they can stand on a picket line.
It doesn’t matter the reason, the cause, the provocation, they just want to be on strike.
The company could cave and accept every demand from the Union, and these people would still want to strike. With them, it’s not about the reasons, it’s only about them being on strike. The refusal to even consider the bigger picture is a certain giveaway, as is their misplaced feeling of superiority.

Also to all those who dislike working for Royal Mail so much as so many do with their constant moaning about the company and the job, the answer is simple.
Find another job you’re happy in!
No one wants to go to work but it’s even worse when you hate it.
Try something else, there’s plenty of jobs out there!!

Re: Union hang your heads in shame
In my work social group, opinion on cancelling the strike day today was a 50 50 split.
It caused quite a bit of infighting and bad feeling.
In my opinion, I just can't see how the members staying away from work as planned for one day would have been disrespectful in any way. If anything, the CWU decision to cancel the strike has made far more noise than it would have if nothing had been said.
Standing down pickets would have shown an appropriate condolence in the circumstances.

This. I can't believe they called off the strike. Gob smacked. So all it's members went without pay yesterday for nothing really. Just playing into the hands of Royal mail, who will be laughing at cwu. So is this strike day going to be added to any of the others to make up for it?DirtyHarry wrote: ↑09 Sep 2022, 04:34The union were wrong in this instance, telling us to go back in to work.
Should have simply stood down the pickets and told members to turn the strike day into a day of mourning.
We still need to battle the predators running our working lives into the ground.
When the CWU calls us out again, I will go out.
The alternative would be to ignore the CWU, and what Thompson and his gang are doing to us, and make it appear that by breaking a strike, we support Royal Mail in what it wants to do to us.
And that would even be more absurd than the CWU's over-the-top decision made yesterday.

Re: Union hang your heads in shame
It seems RM has presented us with the option to take a Day Off with unpaid leave , in effect giving us the opportunity as an individual to still withdraw our Labour .
I will hazard a guess that a majority of people will go to work , needs must and all that but it seems again that a body of people , the working people must still know their place .

Re: Union hang your heads in shame
Seen quite a lot of posties on the socials saying they were getting "have some respect" style comments yelled at the larger pickets once it was apparent something was up (BBC journalist tweeted the death before it was confirmed, so I presume it was known to some prior to the announcement, hence the "my pet goat" moment in the commons earlier in the afternoon.)
I'm still on the fence as to whether it was a good or bad choice, but the managers seemed pretty irritated to have us there this morning!
