It's my day off tomorrow and I usually just take the days pay instead of a day in lieu. I haven't been told anything has changed on that regard. If I go in on Tuesday and am told otherwise I shall be asking for Wednesday as my day off. Surely notice should be given.

Always thought it was your choice (not managements) to get paid or a day in leiu if they cant give you another day off that week.

Manager asked on Thursday if we wanted the day in leiu or to be paid in our office. I always take the pay as I never trust them to credit the day back and its extremely rare to get another day off that week.

Doesn't surprise me that they are trying to say they will only credit a day, as getting paid for it technically covers one strike day.

If you want the day and they don't give it you just take it and say the owe you it off your leave.

Can anyone confirm anything on this , it’s my rest day bank holiday Monday , if my manager imposes a day in lieu rather than a days overtime am I entitled to a day off the same week and is there any documentation to back this up ?
If your rest day falls on a bank holiday, your manager will check if workload allows for you to have
another day off that week.
• If you are unable to take another day off, you can either:
 add the day to your annual holiday entitlement; or
 take the excess hours paid as overtime. This will be paid at the Monday to Saturday overtime rate
Not sure whether you're saying manager has imposed a day in lieu the same week?
If they have then that's the deal. However, if they're trying to impose a TOIL after saying
a day off the same week is not available then that's not the correct procedure (quote above). It's your choice to have the
TOIL or OT.

Why it will not go as a sick absence just unauthorised absence maybe the guy needs the day off and has been refused or had the day changed after the fact of a strike sometimes are more important than work!

Its just not the way it works. If everyone just the took the days of they wanted it'd be a free for all.

Plus I don't think now is the time to be petulant and taking unauthorised absences and leaving yourself open to disciplinary or worse, dismissal.

If they changed it from what it was for that is what was said it is different is it not!
