The original post is off a year ago :hmmmm .
The original mental health awareness week was in 2001.
It's not done, it's not over. somehow people are even less aware and empathetic than they were in the past.
It's still a very relevant topic. Just because it went quite for a bit doesn't mean it's too late to join and add to the conversation

I agree its always good to put mental health at the forefront I wasn't trying to be ignorant just pointing out the colleague isn't on here anymore...but your comments will help others.

My previous post mentions asking Royal Mail for a referral to Occupational Health.

The OH preliminary report will state because you suffer from anxiety ,depression for more than 12 months it is considered a disability and is defined under Equality Act 2010.

Now this is empowering, your manager will need to consider reasonable adjustments.
Different start times, work from home ,reduced hours etc …
👍 this is bang on I know of a colleague that suffers with severe anxiety and has just been registered as disabled by occupational health after his last absence triggered a stage 3

This makes it much harder for Royal Mail to get rid of you so for piece of mind I would recommend getting a referral to occupational health

Also just to add he is one of the nicest lads to work with in our office good luck hope this helps

I had a mental breakdown witnessed by my rep. Guess what management did after I was told by my rep to go home? Got a letter next day charging me with wilful delay. Can’t think of any other company that would try punishing you for having a breakdown. Got classed as disabled by OH. Management didn’t care one little bit. Got no Duty of Care whatsoever, was left at home with no contact from management ( apart from a letter inviting me to a disciplinary hearing) this happened in mental health month. After meeting i got another letter saying we are now formally charging you. 🤪

Dave Ward and untrusted reps must go

In a realm where letters dance on air,
Dave Ward and his clan, with crafty flair,
Royal Mail's neglect, a heavy weight,
Health and safety left to fate.

Union members, voices strained,
Welfare and rights, their cries remain,
Reps jest and laugh, their glasses high,
Subscriptions fund their endless sky.

Drinks flow freely, mirth in tow,
Yet workers labor in shadows low,
Their struggles etched in silent tears,
Injustice deepens through the years.

A saga of power, play, and plight,
Where duty dims in jolly's light,
But change will dawn, the day draws nigh,
When justice shines, no veil to pry.
