I set my phone to ring at 2 minutes after I start so I have a minute to start. :cry

Why would a recessed area be needed if PDA and van keys are posted through the secure door at the DO.
To be able to have a scan in/scan out device outside, otherwise the DO will be required to be physically open for people to scan out
That is where this does not make sense for the clocking out part after hrs, will someone wait at the DO when staff are still working after the DO is supposed to close?
I think not.
The machines would have to be inside right?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Given the low numbers of staff involved I assume they won't be required to clock out just clock in, plus the PDA data will show when they delivered their last LATs, and how from the DO was, if anyone ever needs to check when they finished.

This can be a nail to the coffin for the royal mail. Imagine it deducts your pay as you leave early but does not actually pay you any extra if you come in 15-20min earlier. Imagine people working to the letter and no early starters or runners, amount undelivered stuff especially during busier periods will be gigantic. They must be careful, this company relies still heavily on people's good will, overtime and unfortunately people working for free.
why would anybody in there right mind give any goodwill or free work to this company ? , the way they treat the staff is disgusting :arrrghhh

Hmmm i wonder what robust plan hr and the managers have in place for early clocking off ? maybe banking of hours ? , but i know theres no agreement to this now but who knows whats going on behind closed doors with the silent union .

Doesn't account for the time between the last LAT/rural scan and when you arrive back at the DO unless there's a barcode placed outside the DO that you have to scan. Say your last LAT scan was 45 mins before your finish time, as far as RM would be concerned you've finished 45mins early

I think their motivation is not to give free work to the company or to help the company, its more in order to lower their own daily stress levels and help themselves. I know this can sound strange to some people and certainly i dont arrive at work early, but most days i dont take my 8am 20 minute break. Its often just “easier” on oneself to do this “free” work and i think we all know why.

For those returning when the DO is closed, If they were going to use any data off the PDA's, then surely it would be based on what time you sign out of the PDA as the time you finish
Everything will be OK in the end, If it's not OK, then its not the end.

Is this the end of van retentions? If so where will vans be left overnight if there isn't room now?

There is a geo fence at most DO's which log the time you drive through the gate.

Why would it , all it does is log the time you drive into the yard.

I take it you haven't read the posts on this thread. The question being asked is how do you clock out if the office is closed .

I suppose that depends what type of van retention it is - for instance one that drives straight home after last delivery.
