I get so many people coming out to me atm asking “what’s going on with the post?”, and I have to explain that Covid test kits have priority over everything else (except specials of course) thus letters and regular parcels are the first to suffer.

there will be 4 new full time reserves [on top of the current existing reserves and floaters]
We had that years ago - we called it ASAP in our office. They were a couple of senior guys on the verge of retirement who were kept in reserve to cover absences, prep walks in a pich, deliver cut offs, clear remaining specials, do new builds, etc. They got rid of it with P&L (we'll just lapse all that!)... then reinvented it a few years later with a docket king doing all the same stuff but out there till dark.

The problem remains the same: bean-counting in all the wrong places.
The machine stops.
