Feel sorry for all the new starters who will have to work every sat and sunday. As in if we dont treat them poorly enough

Dear Mr Dunnwald.
It is our considered opinion that you should go s**t off a rope swing.
Yours Cordially
Sir Henry.
The shower of c***s can't stick to any agreement regarding days off as it is:
no long weekend for you as you haven't got your own walk or duty,
no every 6th Saturday or equivalent off for you as you get the day off of the walk you're covering,
no saturday off for you as we have changed your upcoming due Saturday for "operational needs".
The ONLY day I'm guaranteed is a Sunday the only day I can plan anything with any degree of certainty.
And does making "Sunday just a normal day" have anything to do with paying EVERYONE doing any duty on a Sunday the flat rate?
So much for no two tier workforce if new starters are contracted 5/7 eh?
A Christmas Carol: Stave The Third.
Spirit," said Scroogeson, after a moment's thought, "I wonder you, of all beings in the many worlds about us, should desire to cramp these people's opportunities of innocent employment."
"I!" cried the Spirit.
"You seek to close these places on the Seventh Day?" said Scrooge. "And it comes to the same thing."
"I seek!" exclaimed the Spirit.
"Forgive me if I am wrong. It has been done in your name, or at least in that of family," spat Scroogeson.

If they think they have staffing issues now, they better be prepared for the landslide of vacancies that will come if they implement this.

Will the union do anything about it...kiss my arse will they... biggest stitch upShirtbuttons wrote: ↑13 Dec 2021, 16:27Absolutely no way. 36 years service and never felt so demoralised as I do now. What about a decent pay rise? I wonder if I can have some 600 driving allowance? I don’t drive a 600 but everyone else has a share of my d2d money and don’t even as much as see a d2d

Not everyone is the same, you're right. Some will jump at working Sunday for £18/hr and be able to go to the supermarket or whatever in the week when most others are at work. Shopping on a weekend is hell!Bigjj wrote: ↑13 Dec 2021, 16:30They asked this at our office and next to no one volunteered. One lad said he would do it if he could have Saturday off every week he worked Sunday instead and was just told no we can't do that. Not saying everybody's situation is the same but 99%+ of people have things they can do or need to do on weekends. What are you going to do with two days off during the week and working nearly every weekend?

The shift pattern in our place is two consecutive days in a row off ,rotating for five weeks with tues and Sunday off in the 6th week and always work Monday. In a 1 in 6 pattern you only get two days together once every 6 weeks. There's plus and minus points in each. Working 4 in 6 Sundays isn't too bad and actually get 2 Saturdays off in six instead of one. Don't dismiss it so quickly is my view. No walking on Sunday either, saves your body. Sunday supplement paid every week, even on holiday as they just average the weeks you work Sunday into six.

No thanks and anyway most people are out shopping so won't be there to receive parcels anyway.
They take the profits, you take the blame

The Sunday temps at our place get £18 (and guaranteed 8 hours irrespective of finish time), the posties get £14.98 and only paid for hours worked. This is why posties who were prepared to do it are now saying no.
