building trust on the doorstep so when customers get great experience, they get back on line again.
I don't order stuff online cause I like or trust my postie, I order stuff online cause I want to order stuff online...

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

When did we lose this trust? When did we become so untrustworthy?

It must be trust between employer and employee, but then the whole statement is around proof of delivery. That's not the definition of trust.

The unwritten words in the statement are that all these complaints are fraudulent and would be thrown out if we all scanned at the door and not on the property line or in the street nearby. Still not trust.
The machine stops.

Trust at the doorstep when Simon says it is just a way to manipulate staff via their emotions. Those on regular rounds know they have trust from people as they see and speak to them regularly. Simon is just trying to guilt trip people by implying we're doing a disservice to people. Sure, some of us are, we don't do it intentionally and we'd rather do a good job, just the problem is as everyone says time and again, too much work, pressure and toxicity. Oh, and since you turned up Simon, more BS from the company. Seriously, what's wrong with you?!

Postie A scans all the barcodes before they leave the office saving them a fair bit of time faffing about with the pda on delivery, completes the round comfortably.
Postie B scans each barcode at the doorstep, it takes him longer, so either has to cut off or claim OT.

Guess which one gets hounded by the DOM?
All Barcodes? Including tracked? I can’t Imagine any DOM wanting people scanning tracked etc at the office.
It’s one of the runners tricks. Loads up his van, drives down the road scans all the barcodes except for SDs in one go as delivered so he doesn’t have to bother with the pda. Managers at our place don’t care what you do as long as you clear your frame.

I don't think you'll ever eradicate denial of receipt complaints, simply due to dishonest recipients. You can only take steps to reduce it. Scanning at the door will help, but how much?
I think it does lessen trust if a customer gets a delivery confirmation before the item has been delivered.

2D’s fair enough to an extent, If you know the round.
Trackers and stuff is dodgy territory though, people’s phones pinging all over the place saying parcel delivered when the postie isn’t even there or near could be problematic.
I’ve seen people do the 2D before they leave though.

Sorry but this isn’t true . I’ve proved to my manager on numerous occasions that the gps on our pda are not pinpoint accurate .I’ve had a couple of complaints where customer has denied receipt only for me to knock back and be told sorry my husband received it but didn’t tell me . In the meantime my manager said pda shows me delivering the item in the next street , this is clearly wrong . I’ve told him never to use gps as any kind of proof as it isn’t reliable.

"MY PDA" once showed me delivering a parcel to a street not on my round at a time that was almost impossible for me to get there that early.

They aren't accurate.

The thing with 2Ds though, is that more and more are coming with email delivery confirmation. If someone gets an email before you've left the office, you could see where some complaints come from. It would be interesting to see a breakdown of tracked vs 2D or other parcels and the percentage of DoR complaints for each....actually I'm not that bothered.

I scanned everything on the doorstep and today I asked people if I had kept their trust.
They looked at me blankly.
I told them Ricky Macauley says trust is kept when we scan on the doorstep.
Then they just shut the door.
I don't think I will be getting many xmas tips. I think they thought I was a bit odd.
