If you've told your DOM the same then perhaps that why he's querying whether you'll be fit for work from Saturday?
Sorry don’t understand this reply.
He’s not querying if I’m fit for work on Saturday as that is where my annual leave starts. That’s why he’s asked me to come in Friday to end the sick leave before I begin my holiday. It’s a load of rubbish and I’m aware of that but just want to know my actual rights.
I get that he may suspect I’m not I’ll but he’s welcome to pop round and see I’m not and talk to my doctor about the tests .
I sense you're missing the point, you sound to me not fit enough to return to work on Saturday so that's probably why your DOM wants to see you, to make sure you are fit and not using your annual leave to cover up your illness.

His word that he is better and will return after hus annual leave should be enough

In fact, it IS enough - the policy is you do return to work first day you.....return to work
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

There is no way on earth a DOM is concerned that a person might be using up their annual leave to cover an illness.

Almost certainly the DOM is suspicious that the OP is using sick leave to extend his holiday. And is trying to catch him out, by saying he'll have to put his annual leave down as sick leave unless he shows face. Which his way of saying it''ll be a 14 day absence, and an attendance review.

There's absolutely no reason that this needs to be done face to face. I'd call him on Friday and say you're fit to work. Call his bluff on putting it down as sick, and if he does tell him he's an idiot at the attendance review, and make sure you have the doctors note etc.

Id tell the DIM that I'm suspicious of his motives and not sure i can trust what he is telling me is truthful, and therefore would like to speak to a more senior person in Royal Mail ASAP.

Genuine question here. Why do we have a Welcome Back meeting? If, as some others are saying in this thread, your word is good enough that you're fit for work then why bother with a meeting?

Welcome back meetings are there to make sure you are ok to go back to work and for any help you may need...supposedly.

With regards to the original post of this thread, the DOM is being a dick, a phone call has sufficed since that Alex Bell dude invented that phone thingie.
Get reps onto it.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

And of course if you feel you have been pressured in some way to return to work from illness say so in the Return to Work meeting adding that you want that written down.
