Given how quiet CWU is I really doubt we will see a penny of a rise any time soon. We will be earning actually less in real terms in April 2022 anyway. That last pay rise was already swallowed by huge prices rises, most notably energy and fuel. These pay rises they give us are not even enough to offset the rising livings costs. We become poorer each year while the minimum wage is catching up. Not quite there yet but it's creeping up steadily as well as other jobs paying a little bit better. Royal Mail might be in for a shock in 2-3 years time when it comes to recruitment.

Hi All,

Was wondering this myself, as too be honest, compared to companies such as Amazon, and even subsidiary contractors, Royal Mail pay is less. For example, a colleague left Royal Mail FT contract, £410 approx a week, and is now earning 120£ a day with Amazon, and £140 throughout the xmas period per day.

This is in stark contrast to Royal Mail, where the part timers I feel are almost forced to work over their hours, sometimes not just for pay, but if you are on a round miles from the office and you know you wont be done in time, you cant force or expect your partner to drop you to the office then to go and complete the round.

Our companies stock prices have almost tripled since the start of the pandemic, and we are continuously cutting costs in order to be most profitable. None of this huge increase in worth, mainly due to the frontline workers soldiering throughout COVID has been filtered down to the OPGs.

Furthermore the fact Rico Back was awarded nine monthly payments totalling £480,000, and Royal Mail will provide up to £50,000 towards his legal fees and a maximum £25,000 towards outplacement support on top of unannounced remunerations. Most sickening of all, he will keep his £5.8 million “golden hello” payment received when he first took up the role of CEO.

This was definitely a kick in the teeth to all OPG, who for working the xmas pandemic times, recieved maybe £200 as a bonus…

We need and deserve pay rises.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
