The new cards don't have the round number entry on. Wolf's point stands very true.

It's quite amazing how many customers don't flip the card over to see what we actually did with the parcel, so having all the input data on one side would have been a good idea and does anyone fill in the postcode? I know I never have!

We write F I B on the parcel & the date

I've worked in various delivery offices over the years, being asked to cover for staff shortage on certain days.

The following abbreviations written on returned parcels were used at the different offices I worked at:

• "C/L" = Card Left
• "F/L" = Form Left
• "S/L" = Slip Left
• "P739" = that one's self-explanatory

It's quite amazing how many customers don't flip the card over to see what we actually did with the parcel, so having all the input data on one side would have been a good idea and does anyone fill in the postcode? I know I never have!

I find the majority of the general public to be a bit simple.

They don’t spend 10 seconds to actually read what the info says - I once attempted to deliver some foreign exchange (special delivery), no answer so I put a P739 through along with their letters and a tracked parcel (one of those photo packs). A few weeks later I saw her and asked if she’d collected the special yet, she replied “no....I thought the red card was to say you’d delivered my tracked parcel through the letterbox.”

I mean come on, why would we post a parcel through along with a P739 to say we’ve posted the parcel through? At what point do you start wondering what’s happened to your holiday money?!

Another guy moaned at me because he couldn’t read one of the digits I’d put on the P739 as the tracking number - my 6 looked like a G or something like that. He said he’d gone to the post office twice to ask what it meant. At no point did he just fill in a redelivery request. He left it a month, before collaring me, parcel already returned. Proceeded to lecture me on my handwriting.

I’ve even had to write on a redelivery attempt that no we can’t leave your SD under the rabbit hutch, I have to physically hand it to you...3 days later it’s back as a redelivery, note taped to the door leave under hutch.

In short, no matter how simple we make the P739, most people will still be confused.

Yeah, I have had a few come all the way to the office to be told if they turned the (new) p739 card over it says the parcel is in the shed etc.
The surcharge cards are always fun, when they chase you down the road shouting "I was in" I get quite disappointed if they don't now
