Ours has just voted for 1 in 6.
Total backward step imo but there you go.

Depends what everyone was on before surely? In in 6 is usually the middle ground between 1 in 4 and 9 day fortnights.

Maybe 10% of office on 1 in 4.
But quite a lot that weren't wanted it.
Quite a lot of part time with basically sod all chance of getting a 1 in 4.
And a promise of quite a number of part time getting made up to full time if 1 in 6 voted in.
(I bet my granny that won't happen).
No matter what, part timers not given the opportunity for a 4 day week no matter which way the vote went.
The usual shafting.
Basically management wanted 1 in 6 and the 2 options were very much worded so they got it.

Remember a huge part of this 'agreement' was fairness.

Having 1 in 4 Saturdays off for FT but still not having a rota for reserves actually makes things even more unfair.

Rep can't see it though.

A reserve still won't get every sixth Saturday unless he asks for one, and even then it isn't guaranteed.
For part timers, there was absolutely no opportunity for a more flexible working pattern.
The whole culture of RM is based on unfairness and inflexibility.

I'm currently a 4 day week. Part time 30 hours so basically 7.5 hours a day. Do IPS then prep and deliver my walk. The best shift pattern I've ever had. No better feeling than every 3 weeks finishing Thursday and knowing you're not back in until the following Wednesday. Now that's a proper long weekend.

Wouldn't it be beneficial to delivery staff to have the old continental way of working 4 on 4 off. So week 1, work Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, then Fri, sat, sun, Mon off. Week 2 work Tue, Wed, Thu, Friday and have Sat, Sun, Mon, Tue off, etc, etc. The post office would have Sundays covered. Obviously you would have to have several different groups to cover the whole week. Or I'm a batting it wrong and this is what you guys are already on about, if so sorry for being thick

Everything is still in the air, very little is decided or agreed on. All we do know is that enough idiot posties voted yes to accept the bribe - I mean pay rise.
Regarding the four day week idea if something sounds too good to be true it will be. Odds on you will be delivering more than one walk or the walks will be reworked to make them much longer resulting in loss of many existing walks. Its a recipe for disaster.

Our office used to have some staff on a 4 day week but the screws didn't like it because staff were finishing early. And Royal Mail is all about efficiency these days. Just imagine if we didn't have walk-sorters who come in early to do IPS on overtime. That would mean that posties wouldn't be finishing as early and there wouldn't be any scope to make any additions to duties or lapse as everything would be sorted later.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

So the majority of posties are idiots what a silly statement imho.

Offices that have voted on their new arrangements so far - is it a 'more than 50% yes and it gets voted in' kind of system?
If so that seems crazy given the importance of what's about to happen.

When it was explained to us we were told that the duty patterns offered in any upcoming revision are for everyone, full and part time. Is this not the case?
