Re: Big call for the Postal Executive
Only what dingo hears and that is subject to him being available to post any info he may get up today.
Hopefully a formal LTB will be with us by late afternoon Friday as that puts us at the end of the first full week in May which in the contex of the end of April deadline given to RML to play ball is perfectley reasonable to expect info by.

Re: Big call for the Postal Executive
Well we keep hearing of "the new business plan", and the pensions scare tactics and how 63 MCs will be transformed into 30 - without a time scale of course and without any meat on the bone soooooooooooo what is the new business plan? We KNOW for a certainty we aren't going to be any better off, so how much worse off can we be? For those of us who have come through all the modernisation plans including delivery methods and WSM.....how much worse can it be............................all of which I might add are agreed. There are only 8 hours in our working day.

Re: Big call for the Postal Executive
indeed
where is the new business plan?
Wasnt it all doom and gloom last time until the 'deal of the century' was reached?
Since i joined royal mail there whave been non stop talk of job insecurity, redundancies, closures, paycuts, pension deficits yadda yadda yadda
fact is hardly any of this has happened.
Im starting to think this is either bullshit or orchestrated

Re: Big call for the Postal Executive
First you are nearly right, WE HATE YOUR CWU AGREEMENT as a CWU Official you at HQ and just below foisted on us with NO plan B! We hate the way the Union bosses buried all the sh*t as our own representatives in 90 pages of cr*p and my office is bloody angry that you lot sold us a load of sh*t! Before you ask, our Branch and area were one of the 5-6 that were of an accord and voted NO back then but only because we have good Reps that saw the probs went to central and voted for the membership. My judgement was not clouded then (I voted NO in Central and NO in my personal vote) WE THE OPGs have known what Royal Mail plan for years it is the Union Bosses that have FAILED to represent the members! The CWU have Failed to engage the membership! FAILED to represent the membership and like last time you come back and ask us to sacrifice! I am telling you I WILL, like last time do it but i am older wiser and more bitter and I will not fall for your fancy words, stats and partial truths. The CWU bosses have already hit me in the face before the bosses at Royal Mail did. When next you see Billy show him a copy of this and remind him we spoke (a Wob) about the demise of the CWU because of HQ in the keep the post public in Brighton and I am still here. UNITE here we come!dingo wrote:Radom that was not the question. The question was do you really believe if the CWU had not got an agreement that Royal Mail would have stood back and not implemented a worst plan without any benefits including nothing for door to door.
Yes you might dislike the agreement , lots do , however it was voted in by the majority of members who bothered to vote. So it is an agreement and royal mail are breaking that agreement including introducing a new business plan.
Now a lot of members will hark back on issues and that is reasonable but if that clouds your judgement on what is currently being planned then that will mean that you will be oblivious to what royal mail intend to do to your jobs pensions and terms under this new business plan. Wake up before its too late or don't bother moaning when it arrives at your workplace and hits you in the face

We haven't lost any jobs?
The delivery supplement didn't represent a pay cut for some?
There have been no MC closures and no DO mergers are planned?
And there is no pension deficit?
Yadda Yadda Yadda
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Big call for the Postal Executive
So the CWU is just going to accept without argument that only 3 RDCs are needed, WITHOUT QUESTION OR OPPOSITION ??dingo wrote: In terms of the RDCs , yes it is a massive change and your assemenet of where the work goes I think is fair as well. Again can Royal Mail introduce this without recourse to complusory redundancies especially as there will be no opportunity to follow the work.
Last Christmas, the RDC Network could barely cope with the huge volume of packets from amazon, play.com etc - and that was before the bad weather, not because of it. I seem to remember talk on here of 'outhouses' having to be set up to handle all that extra work. Can the CWU seriously not argue a reasoned business case for retaining more than 3 RDCs, if only to cope with such huge swings in volume ? Ditto for retaining more than 30 MCs.
Have they actually stated to the CWU which RDC and MC sites they propose to retain ? Can't a case be made to retain ANY of the sites that are not on that list ?
If the union can only act as a rubber-stamp to whatever is contained in RMs business plan - and any future business plans - and not modify or change any of the detail, then RM don't even need to make an agreement. If the CWU is already accepting Royal Mail's figures of 30 MCs and 3 RDCs, then RM have, by definition, all the agreement they need to slash jobs

Re: Big call for the Postal Executive
Not sure how to put this but here goes...
Wasn't the plan all along (pre BT2010)to half the amount of MC's we have or has that gone further?

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Big call for the Postal Executive
Further to the last briefing, we can now confirm the commencement of a Hermes delivery service for Amazon. We have won this contract based on improvements to our 48-hour service, 6 days a week; the use of the courier HHT to capture information on service performance; the investment and changes to our hub operation with improved capacity and performance; and the strong European relationship between Amazon and Hermes.
Amazon are working hard to raise delivery standards so attention to detail and ensuring that each Amazon parcel achieves its delivery promise is vital in ensuring the success of the Amazon and Hermes partnership. Parcels will commence for delivery from Thursday 21st April in four phases.
Phase 1 will commence on Thursday 21st April with initial volumes of 500 parcels per day, ready for delivery on Friday 22nd April.
Phase 2 will commence on Thursday 5th May, when volumes will increase to 7000 parcels per day, for delivery from Friday 6th May.
Phase 3 will commence on Thursday 12th May, when volumes will increase to 20,000 parcels per day for delivery from Friday 13th May.
Phase 4 will commence on Thursday 19th May, when volumes will increase to 25,000 parcels per day for delivery from Friday 20th May.
We will receive phase 1 to 3 parcels from the Amazon fulfillment centre in Swansea with phase 4 introducing parcels from the Amazon fulfillment centre at Doncaster. These will be sorted through the Nuneaton hub and then into our depot network.
Amazon traffic will be a mixture of bags and boxes.
Please make every effort to deliver parcels on the day of receipt. It is a requirement to make three delivery attempts leaving a card on each occasion.
On the final attempt, please leave a calling card and return the parcel to the depot.
A standard delivery is required, which can include delivery to a safe place, when a signatory for the parcel is not available. The safe place will be captured on a Hand Held Terminal (HHT) and will be available to view for tracking purposes.
We will pay the normal parcel rate for all completed deliveries.
Amazon does not require a promoted returns service so a collection sticker is not required on the parcels.
Once we have established this new service we will collect feedback from couriers about the Amazon delivery process.
New Business is extremely important to secure the future of Hermes. This will make Amazon a top ten account with the potential for more volume if we service it well. The success of this contract will determine a long-term relationship with this Client and the role of courier is therefore vital. Providing excellent service levels mean we can continue to build on our past successes whilst also maintaining and growing our increasing client base. Should there be any queries please contact the Courier Helpdesk.
