Re: Return to shared vans from *?????????*
Just seen a union message going around saying “no removal of safety measures without the unions say so” and to contact a rep immediately if asked to do any different. Looks like there’s a fall out.

Re: Return to shared vans from *?????????*
With the current situation of increasing cases and prevalence, even if vaccination is going well, it makes no business sense for them to reintroduce van sharing.
There will be cases in delivery offices and every case will require at least two people to be off sick or isolating instead of just one with the current situation of no van sharing.

I think the trouble is from a business point of view all Revision activity should be done by October and is all based on 2 in a van pretty sure that's the overriding factor in all this.

I don't think the company give a s**t. Revisions will be done, bullying will force some completions and duties will fail - get the Tracked delivered and the company don't care. The union just agree with the company and 24% of branches didn't even bother to vote about average pay on leave.

I have a unit in my area deploying a full revision next week only 6 posties and two managers in today due to Covid case and pings, luckily only 28 duties to cover.

and no doubt the paying members of those 24% didn't know they wasn't been represented, i know they probably can't release details of who did/didn't vote,
but the cwu'hq will know and should be asking questions why there wasn't a vote on it's members behalf.
i asked around today and nobody even knew of the ballot in our d/o including the office rep!

Reported for duty this morning to be told van sharing is off. Cue much joy amongst the throng, and wonderment as to why we were n`t told until this late stage of the game. At least good sense and reason has prevailed in the end. Why WOULD we go back to van sharing when the rate of infection is likely to dwarf anything that has gone before in the previous 18 months?

Re: Return to shared vans from *?????????*
This whole situation was so avoidable. The business and the union were handed a perfect opportunity to transform the business to a single van model where it should be, but instead have spent 18 months crossing their fingers that shared vans can come back. There is already talk of another September/October lockdown so let’s say van share comes back week after next. We get 6-10 weeks then it’s time to try get all those hire vans back again for god knows how long.
Van share should be scrapped and I bet the business may almost make the money back they would spend on more
Vans by having reduced sickness. Let’s be honest van share is s**t, inefficient and just generally a pain in the arse.
Rant over.
