in my DO someone has signed for the LAT24 its a 30 hour position mon-sat, saturday the office closes about 2-2.30 the guy does 2-8 he doesn't seem to get any shift allowance either, he usually has a few parcels some local, but some over an hour away, he's also been used to do stuff that hasn't gone out or come back to the office such as lasping that's been failed etc, using him to to fail less I guess? one day they sent him out and some parcels turned up at some point, no one told him he came back around 7 and had to go delivery the local ones, the one thats over an hour away, no chance, he got back around 8.10 didn't have a break, and didn't get paid over time, all because he will finish early another day, that's fine an all but surely should be agreed by both? also the items are no different then any other tracked 24 item, there have been days when the guy is expecting items, and they don't turn up aswell.

Second week into the trial and I think it's been a success so far. Just wait until Xmas when this product will really take off..in some regards it may sky-rocket by then.
Biggest customer that I can see using it is Amazon, if they start using it then you could potentially be looking at 100+ LAT items per DO, especially once we get towards xmas. Long term could RM end up having some people in a DO sorting all the mail in the DO, ready for it to be delivered then the rest do 3hrs delivery then come back, have their meal relief then take out the LAT items (if not all the staff needed to do the LAT items then possibly the ones not doing LAT deliveries doing collections)?
Have you not noticed that Amazon have a delivery service of their own in the profitable areas? They may decide to put it back in the RM pipeline if it's cost effective but after setting up delivery hubs i very much doubt it.

Maybe Amazon will try and compete for our customers in the future :whistle

It could be cost effective for them to move it back into the RM pipeline. atm they're paying out money for wages, building rents, van rents (don't know if van rents get covered by owner-drivers), etc would it be cost effective for them to move the stuff back into the RM pipeline and so save having to pay for things like wages. Locally they've started using RM again and some of the places the stuff has been going is in town which I would have expected it to be cost effective for them to use their own delivery service

If they're closing and locking up the office, shouldn't they get some sort of allowance for that?

well, he doesn't have a key for the office, but has one for the gate, and also for access to a pouch box thats semi hidden in the yard, where he sticks his PDA/Van keys/LAt24 red pouch thingy

130 more depots will come on line from October. This is when any new contracts will come on line.

The next increase if the product grows will be before Christmas.

whilst I welcome the new work associated with LAT, the trial has been a bonus for delivery office managers as it has become a free resource to clear walks, clear parcels, prep D2D and any other work managers can squeeze into the 4 hour window all at a cost of not filling vacancies and supercharged lapsing. Surely HQ should have had a clear Joint Statement on Terms of Reference for the trial of LAT`s and made sure all work not associated with LAT should not be touched that way we would get a true reflection of not only LAT work but office resource.

I do the LAT at my office. Originally we were told 'we cant make you do loops or failed parcels etc, but there might be a few bits to do around the office'. People all agreed on that then every day since we have been given packets / lots of loops because 'nationally it was agreed' after LAT had a slow start apparently. Its a bit of a carrot on a stick imo for part timers who need their contracts made up and have to (or feel they have) to be yes men.

Apparently from this coming week it is going to pick up though as more companies have come on board. :thumbup

Have to say that with more businesses using the product it's not really picked up that much .. yet ?
