What happens if PDA data shows regular postie in his 50s, 30 minutes over most days, but when regular postie is off, gets done on time, by someone in their 20s. :cry . Are you then told your performance needs to improve to that of someone else that could be 10 20 or even 30 years younger. If your overweight are you told to lose weight to improve your performance. If you smoke are told to give up, to improve your performance. The list goes on.

Or maybe come in early, don't have a break and if you still go over, don't claim overtime and then they might not be worried about your performance, or am I understanding this right.

You make a good point WF. It's easy for someone who may have their own duty in a well run DO, with a decent DOM, to assume every other DO, and Postie, is in the same boat. I've moved about a bit and can verify that no two D0s are the same. It really surprises me when you find Posties in your DO that have been on the same duty for 15 plus years! How they can appreciate the problems of a Part Time Reserve who gets messed about everyday is beyond me. Most of these types are part of "The Chosen Few" and basically don't give a damn about anyone else, provided they've got it easy. :no no

I welcome the introduction of Data Capture and believe it'll go a long way to settle some of the problems with sharing out the workload fairly. There's certainly a few Posties in my DO already starting to "Work Properly" and even drag it out, because they're worried their duties are too small. :cuppa

I totally agree with you Dorset. Theres too many guys with years of seniority with cushy duties. It seems to me that they have had plenty of time to wake up and smell plenty of coffees put it that way!! I've also seen how other delivery offices run and the DOM in charge can make a huge difference. If you got a DOM thats so far up his own ar*e that he aint got time to listen to his staff then you got a delivery office thats heading for a lot of trouble. I once used to be a reseve and what I can say is that there is a massive difference between duties.

Where I disagree though is the use of data capture. Lets be honest, its not going to solve the problems with sharing out the workload fairly because some guys will just work slow (as you have mentioned), whilst others are racing against the clock just to get finished on time. One of the main problems that staff have complained about is being harassed over leaving work just to finish on time, so if thats the case now, one wonders what problems data capture will be leading us towards in the future? It not only tells you when you scanned - but also what you scanned i.e. how many. So if thats going to be an accurate assessment of packet volumes, god help us
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

will this agreement finally put a end to managers performing opg work for a full shift as seems to have slowly crept in over last couple of years. Our mail centre fails to clear everynight and because of budgets can not bring staff in to cover sickness, leave and vacant duties. All managers are excepted to stay on sorting etc all night to make up for this.To me its wilful delay of the mail putting budgets before customers but one rule for one and another rule of another.Hopefully data capture in Mail centres will show up this problem the new traffic recording system has already stopped our office from booking in work showing its sorted by the night shift and cleared later by other shifts. But knowing management they will come up with new ways to fiddle figures. The union reps in all offices have to make sure every little aspect of this agreement is looked into and checks are made they management are keeping to these agreement. They need to know that big brother is watching them to and the union need to come down hard if any managers feel they are untouchable.

35hr week is also impossible in MCs, they'll need to increase the number of hours if they want a hope in hell of clearing each shift. The later acceptance time won't work either, it either comes in on the normal runs or it'll fail. We don't have the room (or staff) to process any stuff that comes in late

I’m really not sure we should be voting on the pension along with a pay rise
But my main concern is the b n h culture

Cwu no fine well of what’s going on in some offices ,even if it was for talks sake a minority of offices ,which I don’t believe it is .
It still wouldn’t make it right to ignore .
How many of the 89 % ,voted because of the b n h
Only now to be told to tow the party line and vote on a pay agreement that could and will cause more of the same problem
We need the grievance and b n h process both looked at

One of the best posts I've ever read ,sums up my experience to a T and I guess many others

35 hrs a week will become achievable (maybe) because there will be less time spent on indoor prep ... ie all mail sequenced at mail centre to go straight in the van without you needing to be put into your frame ... the theory is you will only need to sort/prep your d2ds and parcels... hence the Union needed to redefine our full time time work to 35 hours due to this technological advancement in the prep of mail... either that or jobs would be lost ! as every full timer would have a theoretical spare 4 hours a week ! which was feared would lead to even greater outdoor walking to fill these ‘spare’ hours...

With regards to pay the 5% is 2.5% last year 2.5% this year and then a further 2% in April 2019

No it's not.
It's 5% backdated to October 2017 and 2% from 2019.
If it were 2.5% from April 2017 and 2.5% from April 2018 then 2% from April 2019 it would actually be worth more. It's just another accounting trick reinforced by some fake "misinformation" by those that like to pull the wool over our eyes.

You'll have a minimum of 2 bundles of sequenced mail and that's not counting any manual mail that you might have (including mail that's come off an IMP/iLSM too late to be sequenced
