Really busy day today, loads on. We recently changed our hours and work 7 on the Saturday. Theres no way that the hours will be matched correctly against the traffic every day. :arrrghhh

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Carew are you full time? If you are i would imagine that IPS is on your 318. I quite enjoy the sorting and especially when it takes longer. It means you are not ready to leave the office till much later and that means cut offs!! You only have to work your hours.

Not sure if there is a general rule. In our office we let the DOM know the day before if we would like him to ring us if there is any sick.

Likewise and as a call to me on my mobile is no louder than the alarm I use on it to wake me up - it doesn't really disturb anyone. I would take a call to ask if I was free for overtime as a help request - not harassment, people can always refuse but sometimes the extra few quid is a pleasant surprise.
We wish to serve - but we will not be servile

Just put in a grievance and he won't do it again. Mention it to your rep that you want a local agreement on procedure for it.

I've had a sh*tter of a day. After 1 hour of IPS I got shoved unwillingly onto a vacant rural, said my finishing time was 1pm so manager made me stream out stuff and I still brought back about an hour's worth of delivery. Found out when I got back that the manager also scammed me out of 2 hours pay for Saturday when I came in on my day off for union consultation and planning, which is paid leave. Not a happy bunny, he also hasn't replied to a written letter requesting reply for today. Trouble is I'm running out of grievance forms..

Today is not too bad, but it is not easy as it is new walk day which mean learning the rack and walk. Hate it.

Tomorrow there should be lot of packet for all of us to deliver as GTA IV is out. I hope none of them is recorded delivery.
