Re: Strike Ballot coming up
Yes there are many that want to see RM Privatised. Ideally they'd like to see us privatised and broken up as we have too much influence as a whole. If we go on strike the country pretty much grinds to a halt for alot of businesses. That is why I would suggest a strike is a last resort not something that should be taken lightly.
The public should be made aware that privatisation would inevitably lead to a poorer service with many outlaying areas affected the worse. Prices will rise and not be just a few pence. After all, the fat cats at the top will want to get alot fatter without a government watching over them.
Should we strike it would not just be for our jobs and out pensions but for the good of the nation as a whole. Strike action should not be dismissed just because some of the public will get uppity. Many, if correctly informed would realise how a postal service out of public hands will be a very bad thing for all.
The problem is that the CWU are useless when it comes to communication. Quite ironic given their name!
First order of business should be to crank up a campaign to let the public know what's going on and how they will be affected. See what kind of support we can get. Encourage people to let thier MPs know how they feel about it and get them to let thier feelings known in parliment. It is a long shot admittedly. But worth a try at least. Better than just rolling over don't you think?

Leaflets are being handed out with postcards to be sent to your MP.
In some rural areas leaflets have been distributed explaining the consequences of privatisation.
How come you aren't getting involved?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Actually it is selfish! And isnt good in any way. Do something that seems right and not just think of yourself, cock! Damn i hate the way greed and selfishness are excused these days!!fishtank wrote:It's not selfish.aiden01 wrote:chrisj not really interested in other peoples terms and conditions wether in private sector or other countries only trying to improve my own might sound selfish.
That's how you protect other people's terms and conditions,by protecting your own.
It is those who fail to protect their own terms and conditions that undermine us all.

yes I just have well that says it all , do you laspse btw 23 - 26 duties per week for 10 months a year and have managers follow you out on delivery because you don't have time to do it or argue over o/t when you go over your time and you don't get paid for it , post s**t to every house d2ds and not get paid , delivery got shafted after the last strike and the shares will be worth jack s**t in 3 years time when your on min wage with no terms and conditions and no sick pay etc. this is what r/m want to split the work force , just have a think its s**t or bust.cloherty1976 wrote:Workotime go back a page and you will see who I work for.

They now if your on route or somewhere you should not be. You get set times and they are tight but that is life

Cant believe you wrote this... I did but do you understand what I mean and that I would rather get shares and be sold as an ipo rather than say a 50% sold off to say a company that would asset strip and receive nothing!

Aye up Hampshire man! One million workers on zero hour contracts in this country. Support the strike so we won't be joining them in a few years time.hampshireman wrote:Dont have a problem with your viewpoint. Just does not gel with mecloherty1976 wrote:hampshireman wrote:

The media are state controlled as well so the union won't be able to get a brilliant message across even though they could try harder. Anybody who doesn't think the media is controlled by the government and media barons who support them is naive. We won't win popularity contests with this strike as the media will portray us as greedy and overpaid. However we know the truth and that is all that matters. We are fighting to protect not just our jobs but a great public service. Been following this theme and there are some right soft soapers coming on here. Show you really care about your job and your customers by doing the right thing when the time comes..cloherty1976 wrote:I see what say about cwu but have you noticed sky very rarely cover it and the bbc not that much..
