I am not promoting the proposed deal by saying this so don't jump on that point but if you actually believe it is no different that where we started then you must be mad. Before London and the other area started taking strike action last year Royal Mail didnt even want an agreement on any issue - they weren't even talking to the union.
HQ did not instruct anyone to wait for a national ballot. Last years conference passed a motion to get as many units as possible balloted..... it is as Dingo says a pity that some chose to ignore this despite their reps voting for it at conference. I don't blame the members for this as they cannot act without information!
I will decide my opinion next week and I will inform you. However my duty is to the members I represent first. Anyone in London will know we have more pressing problems to be dealt with first.

Tomorrows another day. final thought for the day to all posties who feel like they have been kicked in the stomach (or somewhere worse ) over this agreement...keep on fighting, don't let the Inglorious Basturds get you down.
Brothers in adversity it is - for when the going gets tough the tough get going - and this IS going to get tough - the most important thing is to defeat this agreement first and foremost and everyone can do their share. Demand a union official attends a special meeting for each unit, state that there is to be NO ballot until we are satisfied that each and every individual is aware of the ramifications of this agreement and how much they will lose.
Question the Area and Divisional Reps as to their allegiance - is it to the membership who elect them or to HQ? Will they deliver a true reflection of the members wishes or follow the diktat of a union and its minions who are largely unaffected by the change and whose existence is ONLY to deliver the best conditions that they can negotiate and they have now failed twice in that respect.
Each unit needs to send a letter to their Branch resigning from the union and withdrawing their subs - nothing gets their attention like loss of revenue - after all what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander - we lose money - they lose money.
Any union representative who thinks this is a good deal and recommends it should be put on notice that they will NOT be elected in future.

Nothing has been resolved,nothing has changed only broken promise after broken promise.
Despite the fact that branch reported everything hunky-dory at the agm.

This is my major point in where we are....... HQ are to blame for many things and believe me I let them know when I get the chance via my reps but they can;t take place for your branch hiding the truth.
This is where we all reap what we sow........... These types of reps need to go and then maybe when the call goes out for action maybe more units will join in rather than going missing!

Life changing agreement - well it's likely to be that, at the rate of loss of earnings we'll be living in cardboard boxes and shuffling the streets with cardboard socks and car tyre shoes - the people in the slums of Mumbai will look affluent compared to us.
BUT the real clincher for me is not this deal - no that's not important because "there are more pressing problems in London" which belies the previous statement by dingo that if London don't like it, it won't happen - well this isn't the life changing, money spinning deal of the century I was expecting so I hope London can take the time out of more pressing problems to focus on this vote.
