PDA Software Issue – Capture Photo on Delivery
Since the deployment of Capture Photo On Delivery we have identified a software issue which affects the quality of the photos taken when the automatic flash is triggered. This is currently being investigated and we will let you know when the fix is expected. In the meantime please continue to take photos as normal. Please note photos taken for SafePlace remain unaffected

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Photo Capture on Delivery
When I read "PDA Software Issue", I thought it was going to refer to the lag (with the spinning circle) myself and others have experienced when trying to capture photos.
I've been rebooting my PDA every morning - to establish if it's to do with the PDA or software. I'm still being logged out at least once a shift also, just like when I had the old PDA. My conclusion is the software really needs an overhaul. But what do I know, I'm just a Postie...

I find that if you are too quick pressing the the next step on the screen that it causes freezing problems, I'm obviously more efficient than the scanners
The old scanners had the same problem but they would crash completely, so at least the new ones win there.

I had one last night. Parcel for 52, delivered click submit and stuck PDA back in pocket. Drive to next stop in another street, proceed to door and take PDA out to scan next item and lo and behold its asking for photo from previous item. Needless to say, they got a pic but it wasn't of the recipients door with the parcel, but rather a random wall next to new recipients door

Project Manager
I am pleased to say that RM have fixed the two PDA issues for CPoD relating to the camera flash and the blue spinning circle. The two pilot sites for testing the tech fixes were Erskine and Winton DO. The trials were successfully completed over a few days and both units have now reported that they have not experienced any further problems.
The national roll out to fix the camera flash and the blue circle issues will be deployed next week for all PDAs.
Thank you for your continued support to highlight issues and drive performance.

CAPTURE PHOTO ON DELIVERY
As we have entered our busiest time of year, circa 10,000 old style TC75s PDA’s have been deployed back in to use, to support the operation.
These old PDAs do not have the software to capture a photo at the doorstep, if an item requiring a photo is scanned the items will simply submit as a standard tracked item.
The customer knows we are using these PDA’s during peak and are aware they will not get photos for some items

Well that's providing a tip top, first class service isn't it? How embarrassing is that?POSTMAN wrote: ↑30 Nov 2021, 10:40CAPTURE PHOTO ON DELIVERY

"Oh, ya know that big, expensive contract you awarded us last month? The one where we promised to take a photo of the customer's open door?
Yeah? Well, just to let you know, not happening for the next two or three weeks because we're s**t and forgot about Christmas again. Yeah, bit embarrassing really. Bit of a mix up. Not enough PDAs. Or vans. Or posties.
But our team will be back to our normal brilliant levels of service in a few weeks...right after you actually needed us most."
Dunno know about you, but it all makes me proper proud to be a member of Simon's team....
Sooner or later, a beat dog bites.

I missed one yesterday, they need to make the PDA beep, like it does for a safeplace.

Any truth in the rumour going round our office that all of Amazon’s stuff will be going photo on delivery soon?

Re: RMCtv : Photo Capture on Delivery
We haven't got the staff to deliver everything.
We haven't got the time to deliver everything.
We haven't got the vans to delver everything.
We haven't got enough PDAs to fulfill a contract that the board recently wanked themselves off over.
Our office hardly has enough pouches and trolleys to do the job properly.
There is a common theme here that RM cannot resource sufficiently to cover the basic requirements of getting the job done. Anyone with half a brain cell can see this is a massive failing by the management at many levels - but we are sure to find that Super Si will be pointing the finger at the frontline postie for not completing. I look forward to his next disrespectful video in the near future.

Of the dozen or so of these I've had that went through the letterbox since it went live I've noticed the tiny 'P' once. Why not just reuse the black dot from recordeds and specials?claretandblue wrote: ↑30 Nov 2021, 14:11I missed one yesterday, they need to make the PDA beep, like it does for a safeplace.

After finishing his monster HCT walk...
I’ve just been told we’ve already reached the milestone of our one millionth photo on delivery.
Fantastic news and a massive thank you to everyone for embracing this innovation so fast. Our customers love it.
Now to get back to turning it on for more and more customers.
Thank you all again.

Capture Photo on Delivery
You would have seen the fantastic news earlier that we hit our 1,000,000 parcel yesterday on Collect Photo on Delivery (CPoD)
However our picture quality has room for improvement.
We are checking a sample of photos daily, and seeing just 60% compliant pictures.
The top 3 problems identified are as follows
Door not open
Door not visible
Door not open and parcel not visible
As a reminder the process is:
At the doorstep once you have scanned your parcels for delivery you will see on the first screen that your scanned items are now listed, and some will have a P next to the item number.
To capture a photo at a customer’s address where the customer is in to accept the parcel, the item should be held or placed on the floor with the door open.
Please Do not take picture of customer or their house number or name. This is due to GDPR rules.
For items that fit into a letterbox, place partially in and take the photo before using your posting peg to deliver the item.
To capture a photo where in multiple occupied buildings
• blocks of flats; the receiving customers front door must be open or item showing in letter box. and photo taken – please do not leave propped up with the door closed
• premises with reception or concierge; take a photo with the item on the concierge desk, making sure not to include people in the photo.
• High security premise; where photos are not permitted (e.g. some prisons and MOD sites) for now press camera failure and record the name of the person who accepts the mailing
To capture a photo when delivering to a neighbour who is available to accept the parcel, then the guidelines are the same.
There is no change to the SafePlace process. These items should only be safe placed if either it states it on the item or the receiving customer has placed an inflight safe place request.
