To The Royal Mail Snoops & Spies Who Lurk On Here

Post by Zorro »

My name is Zorro and i work at Bristol Mail Centre on the night shift.

Royal Mail is the worst company i have ever had the mis-fortune to work for, they are a complete and utter joke!

Most Line Managers/Work Area Managers haven’t a clue how to do their job. At best they are totally inept.

If you would like to speak to me, ask any afternoon or night shift manager and they will point you in my direction. If that is too difficult for them, ask any postperson.

Now you know who i am, please, please attempt to take me into the office for being negative about Royal Mail and Royal Mail management and i will show you incompetent idiots, exactly what stupid, useless, mindless waste of spaces, you really are.

I am not a girl, so your half-arsed bully boy tactics wont work on me!

I can well believe that !,most of those incompetent idiots are puppets in the hands of a shift manager that should't have been promoted in the first place .20+ years ago they might have been OK but you need a bit more upstairs these days . Most MCM's have also been promoted under the Peter Principle . Just a culture of mediocracy that thrives on it's own corruption .

RM's management control system has changed to command & control 70's Top Down culture that works for the benefit of it's Area & Senior managers , no outside industry would tolerate that . You don't get the so-called Brave New World , you just get the worst of both cultures as it's the same idiots as before that thrive in it .As long as everything ticks Allan's boxes .

Many are instuitionalised beyond redemption , very negative_ everything within a narrow box as it's all they've known since being a cadet , everything is based on confrontation , politics is just a game played to cover for failure to manage .No outside Industry would tolerate 2/3 of it's managers being average /below average according to Crozier .

These places are very poor institutions that tend to be run by glorified head prefects that believe in thier rotten system. There's problems with staff as you tend to get mirrored cultures in institutions . A brain dead machine that just rolls along.

Best example in Central Lancs was a LSM who'd the MCM wanted rid of for his refuelling issues chasing after armed ram raiders to redeem himself .

Got to agree with all the above thoughts. Line managers are not managers they are simply supervisors who are instructed from on high. They can not or are unable to make a decision for themselves without the fear of being hauled over the coals if they are deemed wrong or,GOD, forbid they were using their common sence for the common good.

Most of the ones I have encountered have never had any formal management training. Other than the Royal Mail three week intense how to BULLY and INTIMIDATE people into breaking the law by driving unroadworthy vans, work hours over your time for nothing in fear of loosing your job and harassing you when you are sick. These people seem to have also been elevated through the ranks. It’s not just the local Doms but also the area scumbags especially.

Most of them historically were the most useless lazy post persons who new every fiddle, never did the job properly and were able to just get away with it by talking utter shite. Hey presto management potential.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Just keep logging the vans off till they fix 'em. They DO give you a hard time over it, but they can't stop you if there's a dangerous fault.

It's scary the state of some of the equipment and vehicles. I checked on here, and found that it's RM wide. :arrrghhh :no no But if you keep logging them off, they do fix them in the end. :Very Happy

I have been told, that I have the biggest PMT1 file in Royal Mail!!!!! They seem to think that, that should make me ashamed. :no no  But quite frankly, it should make them deeply ashamed, that it was neccessary to fill that many in!!!!! :no no  :Sick

I have a reserve duty on the Bays (I like the variety), which means that at some stage I drive almost every FLT and Scud in the building. I have come across snapped Cage Gards, broken forks, damaged wheels, loose seats, broken seatbelts, etc., etc., etc..   :arrrghhh

Then there's the dangerous vehicles: rotten floors, doors falling on people causing a serious injury a few months ago, etc., etc., etc.. :no no :mad

The worst of it, is that they keep insisting that if the victim doesn't require treatment. Then it should go in the "near miss" book, and not in the "accident" book. I have recently found out that THIS IS A LIE!!!!! :no no :evil/mad :Sick :arrrghhh :silenced If there is an accident, it should ALWAYS go in the accident book, wether it resulted in injuries or not. :hmmmm

That's why the accident figures still look good, dispite the lack of maintenance on the equiment/vehicles.

Hi Andy2007. I just refuse to drive them if they’re dodgy. If I get any crap, I just walk into the office, pick up the phone and ask the twat DOM if he wants me to ring our local police station to discuss whats wrong with the van and if its illegal to drive. Strangely enough he has never taken me up on the offer.

Don’t even get me started on the accident book! Which actually doesn’t exist anymore. Why?? Royal Mail now do it on computer, which means you, me, everyone, do not have access to it. One lad in our office had an accident and was told by DOM don’t worry son, I will sort it out for you. Never happened. Also, when the accident is logged in so say book/computer you should receive a letter from HR, H&S or god knows whoever saying "I am sorry about your accident rah rah rah rah" to confirm it. It just doesn’t happen.

Royal Mail has a completely abysmal H&S record. I was told this by good authority. We all work for one of the most inept H&S conscious companies in the UK. Forget the all we care shite, dignity and respect for everyone. When it comes down to it, its just one big smoke screen. A big PR job. Pie in the sky

I remember a post from someone who'd worked on Accident & Claims in the Insurance Industry for 30 years & he said he'd never heard so much nonsense about accidents becoming incidents & near misses in his life .

1 RM don't want all the regimented paperwork 2 There's orders from on high not to make any problems for RM as they've been threatened with investigation by the HSE
It's just hype & PR spin about best practice

Many people take matters outside the PO by reporting accidents /hazards etc to the HSE or Council Environmental Health . Needless to say it doesn't go down too well but that's just unfortunate .RM are quite happy to put people on stages if you lose any days , my mate's sister-in-law hasn't had any maintenance after RM blocked her exes injury claim , usual story .managers swearing blind he "failed " to lift bags correctly .

andy2007 and max gain

With regards to accidents at work, as has been pointed out accidents no longer should be entered into any accident at work books but are done electronically via the ERICA computer system by the Delivery Office Manager. ERICA - Electronic Reporting of Incidents for Collating & Analysis. When an individual has informed DOM of an accident then the DOM must enter all relevant details on the computer system. A copy should be provided for the said individual who has had the accident and another copy should also be provided and forwarded to the Area Health and Safety Rep.

Individuals who experience any difficulty with the actual reporting of accidents by managers should immediately inform their Area Health and Safety Representative and should also inform their workplace / unit health and safety rep.
