Re: Holiday forms
We don't our initial pick is for two weeks but they don't have to be consecutive and can be at anytime over the course of the year

However thankfully we don't use that block system either.
Always confused when people talk about their block system

Re: Holiday forms
Edited my original comment as I'm not sure exactly what the block system is, I know it's been mentioned on here some offices have people in groups of specific blocks of weeks that rotate over the course of a few years so in effect your holidays are fixed whether you like it or not I wouldn't like that at all, also I've read that people have to book initial 2 weeks in the summer period which equally wouldn't be ideal as surely the choice would be severely limited by the maximum amount of folk allowed to be off per week.A2B wrote: ↑Today, 21:09Sameted_e_bear wrote: ↑Today, 20:48We don't our initial pick is for two weeks but they don't have to be consecutive.

I'm sure these methods are lots easier for management but they're both crap for us

Re: Holiday forms
We have four groups that rotate through a four year system. Initially ( many years ago when purely seniority was used but outlawed as discriminatory) The four groups were populated in order from the seniority list. Group A picked its first three weeks first followed by group b etc.. the next year group B got first pick followed by group C then D, then A got last pick. this system then kept rotating so year three Group C got first pick year 4 group D got first pick.
As people left new starters were added to the bottom of the group that had fewest members (usually because they were replacing retired members from that group)
This ensures everybody has a better chance of getting a "Prime holiday slot" at least every two years.
After the initial round of picks of your first three weeks any remaining weeks follow the same process. It's fair for everybody but we all end up swapping weeks amongst ourselves throughout the following year because I have not got a "scoobie" of when I want off 18 months on from when we have to officially make our selections

e.g. I don't know now if I need the second week in March 2028 but I may do
