Packets that have fallen off the parcel machine and been spotted late, packets left on frames, packets that have gone to the wrong office.TopperGas wrote: ↑05 Oct 2026, 20:01So where do the extra LATs items come from then? Every day we get approximately 25% more LATs than appear on the manifest, in the past we use to leave anything not on the list for the following day but we've now been told any T24's have to be delivered the same day or it goes down as a failure against the DO.

Setting aside that, like missorted letters, they should not be left at a cleared-down frame (item #17 for WPCs to fix); when it comes to Tracked that haven't been done on core route, LATs are the last train home.
Plenty of times a noob has been on with me and just blindly filled the van with oversized without checking they're all actually on that duty (why oh why doesn't core route inform you the packet you just scanned isn't on that route header?). I'll be damned if I'm going over my time for a dozen missorts. Managers always begrudgingly tell you to pass them to LATs who then kick off about being treated like a dumping ground.
The machine stops.

Don't ever tell them to load the van!

I can never understand why the PDA doesn't flag up you've scanned a Tracked item which doesn't relate to the duty, similar to what it does for an address with an active redirection.Mr Rush wrote: ↑Yesterday, 16:59Setting aside that, like missorted letters, they should not be left at a cleared-down frame (item #17 for WPCs to fix); when it comes to Tracked that haven't been done on core route, LATs are the last train home.

We now get back to the DO so late that our main LATs have usually already gone out.

We can't have that, but somehow they found the time to make Indoor > Enquiry Office > Record Not Delivered as annoying as scanning to core route. What was a simple case of scan scan scan scan all the P739s is now scan, confirm name, scan confirm name, scan confirm name...
The machine stops.

I can't understand why they've done that, who's going to check every name anyway? Probably some GDPR nonsense where RM have to make sure they are emailing/texting the correct customer at an address??

Imagine a world where all we needed to do was scan the item and the assistant did the rest. Relay even have the packet delivery number printed on the item. Amazon show the drops on a map after scanning one barcode so the driver can reorganise their workload. Meanwhile we have to know everything or miss something.

I can't understand why around ⅓ of the items I scan to core still show as an unidentified address, surely after 2(?) years of scanning items to core the system should have been upgraded to now show the correct address for every tracked due to be delivered.
You still get to customers properties with 2 or more Tracked items but when you scan the first one the others don't show up on your PDA for the address so you have to also scanned those.
It's similar hassle with collections, why do we have always change the collection to "collected from safe place" if the customer has already asked for it to be collected from one!

Better that than arriving at the door with 2 parcels, and after scanning the first one 3 more appear on the PDA with one apparently needing a signature.
