Increased hours under dm26

Post by roadrunner bill »

There was never any mention of increased hours by the union..
On voting this crippling DM26..

It just seemed to have been forced in by stealth...

Full time staff... now having to work nearly 50 hours a week... under Dm26... so called Collective bargaining nonsense... by the union.... who have betrayed its members 😔
They have No right to force it onto it delivery staff.....

What ever happened to the 4 pillars.... reducing the working week.. to acceptable work loads....

It just seems like it working in a absolute hell hole now....

It is supposed to be about 40 minutes extra a day we are working for the extra Saturdays so thats just over 3 hours extra a week so 40 hours

How are you being made to work almost 50 hours a week?
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

They can't force in extra hours, you'll have to work extra hours to accommodate the extra days off in the new shift pattern, but it should average out over the rotation to your core contracted hours.

If you are working 6 days a week, weren't you already doing 6 days a week?

How many hours per week were you doing pre DM26?

Presumably you're on a Wallington ? Did you have the chance to change to the popular 2 in 5 Saturdays in which case you only do 32.5 hours on two of the weeks in the five week rotation as you get two days off, or did you prefer to keep the Wallington as despite doing 48 hours for three consecutive weeks followed by a Monday to Friday week at 40.5 hours you then get a week off which repeats after every four weeks ?

In fairness I did point out Wallingtons would have to do some long weeks just to get the extra Saturday.

Why was there a need to add an extra Saturday into the rotation on a Wallington? I get that it would meet the 'spec' to get more Saturdays off, but it seems not really worth it. Or is it that they NEED staff to have more Saturdays off so as to balance the workload on a Saturday?

8 hours Monday
8 hours Tuesday
8 hours,20 mins Wednesday
8 hours Thursday
8 hours Friday
7 hours 40 sat..
So 48 hours 10 mins a week..

Crippling

That’s over 6 days then? Of course it’s going to be nearly 50 hours. You’re the one agreeing to do it. There’s no way you have to work 6 days.

I didn’t realise I had to work more than 37 hours per week? How have we been deceived on this?

Is it per week though or does it average out?

I'm on a 30 hour contract, not started the new system yet but I've seen what the new 30 hour contract is, and it's broken down as so

Week 1: 27 Hours, 4 day week
Week 2: 26 Hours 40 mins, 4 day week
Week 3: 33 Hours, 5 days week
Week 4: 33 Hours 29 mins 5 day week

So a couple of weeks over my contracted hours and a couple under, averaging out over the 4 weeks to 30 hours.

Nobody has to increase there hours, current contracted hours have been safeguarded in the agreement.

You should have had the duty options displayed in your office/explained to you before you voted on them, otherwise how could you make an informed decision, for example here's the 2 in 5 that apparently most offices vote for, it clearly shows the hours worked per week in the 5 week rotation

That's what we're switching to. Though I'm not really sure how it'll pan out for my 40hr contract. We've been told we'll start 40 mins earlier then others but I'm positive that we'll be getting screwed somewhere cos its RM :chuckle
