The result and Voting members - Legacy to 'New'

Post by yellowbelly »

From the LTB pushed out by the Union re the result, if I've worked it out correctly there are:

89,939 'Legacy' employees who are CWU members

15750 'New' employees who are CWU members

Just for interest.....

Result LTB, it's a 'Yes' on both counts:

Turnout for this ballot was 32.3%!

That's a poor show.

People don't like voting against their own union but I think the low vote tells it's own story

It was almost guaranteed it will be a yes vote with embarassing turnout. People gave up on the union since the last botched IA. Those who at least bothered to cast their vote may not work in deliveries, but they can see the 3% pay rise carrot dangling very well. Job is gone to the wall already so lets at least pocket little change if they still offer anything. This is how it is likely decied.

Around 10% of the workforce have chosen what the other 90% will be doing. That's not any democracy, that's CWU democracy.

Low turnout is likely because a lot of legacy staff are on the verge of leaving and a hell of a lot of 'new' contract staff are only here short term....

as well as that, most posties probably don't even know what's going on as the union never properly explained the differences clearly and simply between the 2 methods trialled.

I have no idea if this heavy and light model is any good as I have not trialled it, so it was hard to make a vote on it not really knowing how well it is or isn't going to work.

I read somewhere that the weekly paid will soon be getting paid monthly and that it will "just happen overnight"
