Pay rise 1st April

Post by StokieD »

Apologies if I’ve missed something, but are we getting 2% pay rise from 1st April and then possibly more backdated as inflation has been over 3% for months and was still at 3.0% in January? Any info gratefully received.

I think it's 3% (if your frame is clear) Stoke.

Think it was going to be the average of the 2? 3? month period up to end of march.
Won't find out until mid-march at the earliest when inflation rates are published. Earliest [ay rise will be beginning of May ( if it's 3% plus, there will need to be agreement between RM and CWU )

With the recent energy super hikes we may see a really high number in March (if March counts). That'll trigger the thing where it's over 3 percent talks. Then we'll be waiting for the pay rise for months and months as the CWU negotiate very very slowly.

I'd be stunned if the pay rise starts in April. If/when inflation is over 3% it re-opens negotiations. What's there to negotiate? Probably end up with a £500 kicker and 1.5% after 6 months of talks.

Hopefully we hear somethin promptly next week about the ODM, Equalisation and the payrise thats due in a few weeks.
Half the new contracts in our office are holding out to see if they'll get upped to legacy contract pay.
If it doesn't happen, they said they are jumping ship.
Supermarkets like Marks&Spencers and Aldi are gonna be paying roughly £13.50ph in April.
Shooting straight past the new contract wages.

But surely they can’t just give us nothing in April and keep us waiting and waiting, especially as the minimum wage increases on 1st April by the equivalent of 4.1%!

Hopefully these people realise that you can't just walk into a supermarket job. Aldi for instance get 100's of applications just for one position. Jobs are actually quite difficult to get these days, minimum wage or otherwise.

I applied for the lowest of the low part time jobs you can think off. Cleaner, hospital porter etc and if I got a rejection it was a miracle. Not that im desperate , quite happy reading the forum and seeing how fed up everyone is and thinking i made the correct choice. Its not easy out there at all be careful.

According to our latest starters who have all applied for multiple jobs before being accepted here it's an absolute piece of piss getting past the actual face to face interview with the delivery office manager at royal mail, they really are inept and out of their depth when it comes to such things.

They're absolutely desperate for bodies. Although as a new starter pointed out to me, by only taking on drivers they're limiting themselves from really taking on absolutely anyone.
Any Questions?
Yeah, how do I get out of this chickenshit outfit?
