And nothing will come of it as we know from the previous time this happened.

Cling to the slender hope that this is a different Government, but nothing suggests they’ll do anything

Re: RM called to answer questions to parliament.
Oh good, round 2 of the pantomime.
RM executives will be warned they must tell the truth, that it’s a serious matter, that giving inaccurate information to a parliamentary committee, whether by accident or otherwise, is taken very seriously.
There’ll be the usual bingo card excuses of Covid/staff sickness/sinking of the Bismarck/Icelandic volcanic ash problems of 2010.
There’ll be some raised voices from the committee. Stern words, angry faces. Pointed fingers.
And then at the end they’ll all take a bow, and when the RM executives are booed, the curtain will fall and then the curtain will go up again and they’ll smirk and everyone will stand up and clap. Just like a pantomime.
It’s a shame our very own CWU Statler and Waldorf haven’t galvanised the union members - imagine if they could provide statistics to the committee that they’ve had 80% turnout of their survey showing 90% (other figures can apply) of RM workers have been told to prioritise tracked or have witnessed Mail delayed.
Do you know what would actually make a difference? If the committee could instruct Ofcom to remove any profits made if things don’t improve.

The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Is this a positive for the CWU during this time of disputes or will the company double down and seek drastic changes?
Who was it that got the government involved over the delays in mail, and why now, as it’s been going on for ages.

Re: RM called to answer questions to parliament.
Profit comes first, he will double down.
He selling the property, reducing the workforce & lessening terms & conditions.
Nothing more than another pantomime for all to see as others have mentioned.
Does make the Government look stupid though as exactly the same topics will be discussed as last time.

I can’t help feeling this is what they wanted all along and the union have been done up like a kipper lobbying the government
They are going to plead the case for the ODM and use that not being implemented as the reason why it’s went tits up which we know is nonsense
They will say they need urgent reform and the union are standing in their way in hope the government ask the union to back down
They are still giving the impression the only change they are wanting to make is not delivering second class on Saturdays.
We know its lies. MPs won’t.

Is Chris Webb going to hold a cardboard sign in the background like a 7 year old giggling school child again?
Or will he be too busy banning members on Facebook for having the Gaul to question the union in the comments section?
Round and round we go, we all know how this ends.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: RM called to answer questions to parliament.
Actions speak louder than words. I don't see the government taking any action(s) once questioned. It's just a case of rinse and repeat.
It's just a waste of time as RM have already written the writing on the wall. With the new owner at the helm it's just a sinking ship that's getting ripped apart while going down just like the titanic.

Re: RM called to answer questions to parliament.
I just hope somebody asks RM how cutting 2c deliveries to alternative days is going to lead to an improvement in service when at present it's now a total mess when they are trying to deliver 2c every day. I'd also like them to ask for details of the actual number of staff who are off sick v staff vacancies as If find it hard to believe that sickness is the issue rather than just the lack of staff generally.
