I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Couldn’t care what Royal Mail do as long as I get paid and there are finish times. Mail can sit in frames all year for all I care, not our problem. The Union would be safer getting members better money than worrying about the USO. Royal Mail will do what they want in the end.

It is a bit pointless as far as polls go.
I did a quick poll in my office.
I asked everyone if they wanted to work harder for the same money and 100% said they didn't.
And that proves what exactly?

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Did the union not agree a 3 year deal. The disagreements that the union have put against ODM being pushed in is good. But the big question is are they going to have meaningful talks or are they going to be at logger heads like before and we go out on strike.
When the new owner taken over he said nothing would change near term, but we all should know better than that's not true.

At least it totally contradicts RM's recent suggestions that the ODM trials are going well, it's shocking really that so few union members voted in favour of the ODM.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑Today, 16:51It is a bit pointless as far as polls go.

I wonder what the "good" development is?

I'd be very interested in reading a full report of the ODM trials because as recently as last September the union's publication Your Voice was, to my mind, going out of its way to sell it. It must have been catastrophic, though apparently not enough to put all the trial offices on the naughty list.
Any Questions?
Yeah, how do I get out of this chickenshit outfit?

The CWU were championing the ODM as the only show in town, no plan b etc. There must have been some parts of it that worked, at least in theory for them to get on board with it
Did they get spooked with the number of potential staff RM wanted to cut (which they knew about at the start) hence coming up with the 'heavy and light' model?

Yes the job cuts and removing 25% of duties from units is the biggest issue and for the union that also
means less paying members.
I have no idea why the union even entertained participating in the 3 doing 4 pilots when this was obviously known beforehand
It should have been an unacceptable level of cut and a red line from the get go

Maybe CWU were championing it as at that point they thought the new owners would stuck to their promises on things like equalisation. Now that they aren't maybe CWU have decided to challenge them on it. Anyway, I fully believe ODM the RM way is coming. Robin has loads of posts about the changes in offices with the alternate colouring of the frames and layout changes.Perseus wrote: ↑Today, 20:12The CWU were championing the ODM as the only show in town, no plan b etc. There must have been some parts of it that worked, at least in theory for them to get on board with it

The CWU are driven by subs
The reason the 97% mandate wasnt followed through with was Royal Mail threatened to stop subs being paid through wages.
Since then membership from legacy staff has decreased meaning focus turns on new contracts. "Equalisation' being the new buzzword - we fought for it on the picket lines and were sold out by Dave & co. In that time Martin was very vocal against the leadership yet finds himself scoffing biscuits with the same leadership at our expense.
WHERE IS THE COMMUNICATION MARTIN??

Our office was changed months ago but there's still no signs of the ODM being introduced.funkflex55 wrote: ↑Today, 20:26Maybe CWU were championing it as at that point they thought the new owners would stuck to their promises on things like equalisation.
