If a number of people are going for a vacancy of the PHG job is it based on seniority?

It's skills based and seniority.

There's no such thing anymore as a PHG role/title/duty/job. Do you mean a duty working in your DO's SD locker?

Yes that’s what people mean when they say it

Most still call them PHGs

When i left 10 months ago we had one a "PHG" who got 50p more per hour in return for doing a his duty, which wasn't any smaller than anyone elses, and then doing all the paperwork involved in our little 7 duty office, he also did stuff at home while off duty like rotas and holidays.
He is also the office grass so i guess it suits him well.
Shows how easy some people are bought.

A candidate on our branch ballot has OPG/PHG as his job title with a commencement date of 2000 - not quite sure how that can be possible.

Well over a decade ago you were supposed to have an NVQ in customer services before you could get near it. I keep meaning to enquire about getting certified on the job for that. If things are going the way things are going, if I leave I want something to show for it - my qualifications certificate is getting very dusty after twenty years.
Any Questions?
Yeah, how do I get out of this chickenshit outfit?
