Daft rough estimate

Post by Chelseablue »

Hi ya , as everyone does , been thinking a bit about the future etc. The next month or so , if theres no satisfaction in the job at all and as the pilots done were just awful, exhaustion etc, i might look to escape the madness of it all. Ive done near 27 years , 56 , anyone similar years etc , be able to give a rough estimate what my lump sum etc would be ? Sooo hard to understand it all , a rough estimate might help my decision. Ive got quite a bit of savings too, and my wife has gone early workwise with a great pension etc. Cant stand the place now, its so bad for your mental health , trying to do your best for your customers etc, and with this awful way of workng coming in,,,,,,,( hopefully it dsnt. ) dont want to spend my later years in a place that dsnt value its staff at all

I dont mind telling you my figures but obviously individual amounts will vary. i was in section c and took my pension 2 years early at 58 about 2 years ago (only the NRA60 bit) as im still working. I had done 34 years. I was deducted around 10%.NO AVCs. i got 43,000 lump and have just over £500 per month.Hope that helps

Hope you get the answer your looking for, if you can afford it get out, maybe even find a part time job without the stress and hassle.. I'm 63 and the job now is no good for us older guys, my duty is always 2 or 3 days worth of mail to carry around, the weather is getting worse, the office just seems full of people in despair now.. I've only been here just over 18months and I've had enough

I think the standard VR would be 12 months pay + your pension contributions depending on how long and what percentage you've been contributing.

I don't think you can get financial advice here, probably best speaking to someone that's professional in that field.

In regards to the job satisfaction it's just not there anymore. Trying to complete a walk within the hours that are given in a day is just impossible.

You have to look after your overall wellbeing. This job has definitely got more demanding and its not worth the aggravation. Best of luck.

Hi Chelsea

If you have your most recent statements you should be able to work out your most up to date figures , maybe repost this in the pensions section as Robert T is very knowledgeable on pensions and may be able to assist you
Good luck whatever your decision, the place has gone to the dogs and is definitely staying there !!

Hopefully the link below will work. Just fill in the details and you should get your figures on both pensions within a few weeks. Don't forget the 5% deduction for each year before NRA.

I got out on the 23rd Jan after 12 years, working for the council now, Mon to Fri.
Best move I've made in years and I get to escape the ODM

It won't be a lot . About 30k to 35k id guess. If you've had enough hang on and see what happens next month. There might even be VR . Jobs are not easy to find now and RM will fill vacancies ( bloody predict text lol )easier than most people think. The more they get on rubbish contracts the better for them .

Not sure I'd want to put RM in charge of vaccines

Despite the fact you are a Blue twt , the best advice is find something you can do proficiently and will enjoy - the difference in pay of a pound or 2 per hour is insignificant compared to your mental health.

I'm hanging on for a few more months then will just say "bye" and enjoy what I want to to do.

Face the facts - we are closer to our death than our birth.
