Post by mahrm1 »

Does anyone know how to work out holiday pay?

POSTMAN EDIT: How do I claim Holiday Pay? See the link below at their new website

http://angardstaffing.co.uk/help-centre/queries/#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Holiday requests submitted before 10am on a Monday will be authorised and paid on that same Friday.
Any Holiday requests must be emailed to angard.employee@reedglobal.com, below is a holiday request form which will need to be attached to the email with the details of your request. You can only submit hours for days that are not worked. If you are not sure of the amount of hours you have accrued then please feel free to email angard.holiday@reedglobal.com and we will investigate and get back to you.

Angard will NOT automatically pay you your holiday pay, you MUST claim it.

For a complete month of work you should accrue 2.34 days of holiday pay.

Top right corner of your payslip, assuming you have one, has a figure Holiday Pay Accrued or something like that.

The figure quoted is the number of hours you have accrued.

For a weeks work you should accrue just over half a days holiday pay.

It's payable at your hourly rate.

I was told the following in an email from Angard :-

Holiday claims will need to be put through to us and emailed to:

angard.holiday@reedglobal.com and there we will process a holiday claim.
Please not if your request is not with us by 31st december requesting all outstanding holiday to be paid to you it will be lost.

So make sure you claim ASAP.

Contract Section 7.4

Post by csm »

Section 7.4 of the Contract regarding holiday pay

7.4 If at the termination of your employment you have any outstanding holiday allowance you will be required to take it during the notice period. However, if it is larger than your notice period you will receive a payment in lieu of any statutory annual holiday owing. If you are summarily dismissed, or leave Angard without giving notice in accordance with this statement, you will receive a payment in lieu of any outstanding statutory entitlement you hold in accordance with Regulation 14 of the Working Time Regulations 1998 (5.6 weeks (or the minimum statutory entitlement in accordance with the Working Time Regulations 1998 if higher) in each case inclusive of Public and Bank Holidays and pro-rata) but you will not be entitled to any payment in respect of any additional contractual holiday entitlement (if any) you may have.

Given that we are not normally allowed to take holiday, we can ignore the part about taking it during the notice period so according to the second sentence we will recieve a payment in lieu of the holiday owing.

The only question is when will we receive it given Angards "fine" record on paying people

Agree with csm - nobody is givem time by RM for holidays - most contracts ended 23 or 24 December and you were not allowed days off. Unless you told them beforehand - you may have got them begrudgingly or if you took a day you were told you would be sacked. According to Angard you are not entitled to holiday pay if you work on a day. Hence, practically nobody could have requested their holiday pay until the end of contract.

I do not believe that any company can withhold holiday pay you are entitled to. It would be another breach of employment rights. This is going to be another place they fail. Can you imagine them processing 18,000+ request for holiday pay in one week. I doubt if they have enough people to open the e-mails along with the e-mails from the thousands requesting: being paid; tax code changes; correct pay rate; correct hours; clarification on additional benefits we receive as a result of AWR; etc.. Holiday pay should be automatic as it was when RM recruited the Christmas casuals. Do RM/Angard really want another issue they have not been able to deal with.

Brilliant - so you have to fill it in before you will know how much holiday you are entitled to. Your final pay is due on Friday 30th December 2011 - you have little chance of getting a payslip before 3rd January 2011. Be around the 9th January 2011 before they get it back to them. That particular payroll office no longer picks up the telephones so you cannot ask them how much your entitled to.

Looks like you need to be claiming your holiday before you start so you will get your reqest in within the Christmas contract time period and are within their rules of getting your holiday pay.

So they want 14 days notice to pay you holiday pay at the correct time.

Thanks, Phil, for posting the holiday form from Angard. Afraid I'm a bit nonplussed by it :hmmmm

I worked as a Xmas Casual at Inverness MC for 4 weeks, putting in 106 hours in all during that time. We'll put to one side, for the moment, the fact that I have had neither pay nor payslip for my first week. And no £350 token for me, or for a handful of workmates, either; we weren't "on the list".

By my reckoning, calculating using the one payslip I have received, I'm due about 12 - 13 hours' holiday pay.

Can anyone enlighten me as to how the Angard holiday form should be filled in?

Oh, and there's this, from a post above:
Please not if your request is not with us by 31st december requesting all outstanding holiday to be paid to you it will be lost.
Is this "loss" in any part of the contract? Is it even legal? (silly question, I'll admit :d'oh! ) What is meant by "lost"? (The cynic in me is tempted to guess it means "redistributed to senior management" ) Has anyone else been sent a similar e-mail? Agree with the poster above who suggests that this could become yet another shambles to add to Angard's impressive array.

We have a legal entitlement to holiday pay so if Angard do try to withhold it then they can be taken to an Employment Tribunal so long as it is within 3 months of employment ending

http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/you ... id_holiday" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I suppose this can just be added to the list of things that Angard can be taken to a Tribunal for if they try to uphold a 31st December cut off date, which in addition to being illegal, goes against what is in their contract

Is it for every full 8 hours, or is it for every working 8 hours, which is really 7.5 hours?

My latest payslip says I have 22.77 hours holiday pay accrued, by which point I had worked 169.5 hours, and 169.5/22.77 = roughly 7.5.

So my total holiday hours for 207 hours of work should be 27.6???

Also, are holiday hours paid at basic rate, or the rate you were on?

I suspect the 31st December deadline relates to the taking of holiday rather than receiving holiday pay (and there is a definite distinction).

Where I used to work, the holiday year was 1st April - 31st March. You had to take all of your holiday entitlement by 31st March otherwise you lost the entitlement to a break, but you would still receive pay in lieu. So I guess those on long term Angard contracts need to take any holiday before 31st December and have it booked before 15th December.

I tried emailing all the addresses on here, but they kept being returned as the address didn't exist.

I phoned up to see what was happening and they told me to use anguardpayroll.queries@reedglobal.com

That was returned too.

I dunno what to do.
