1 in 4 sats part 2!
Can management stop the 1 in 4 saturdays, duty options being an option in an office? Heard a rumour that management don't want them because they are harder to manage and cover for etc....

unbelievable. 1 in 4 saturdays is the only benefit we are probably going to get from delivery methods revision but yet management/planners are trying to scupper this. Need help nationally from the cwu to put a stop to this bullying.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: 1 in 4 sats part 2!
yes thats right weve been doing p&l crap for over a year now , i was working the 1 in 4 and it was great loads of long weekends etc and days in lieu and they stopped it as it was harder to cover the duties and the idiot union rep agreeded , so they took a bit off all the 1 in 4 rounds and created another duty , its a another con. good luck.banner18 wrote:Can management stop the 1 in 4 saturdays, duty options being an option in an office? This is another example of local agreements undermining national ones. What's the point of having any agreements if they're ignored at local level, if something is agreed at national level than that should be it. As for your union rep who agreed to it get rid of him/her.

some reps are better than orhers. don't forget reps do that job for no extra pay but take any flack that is going if things go wrong. yes the rep should have consulted the members at least but it depends on how well trained they are and if they have anyone furher up the chain to consult. that is what union courses are for and it is up to reps to get themselves trained. we are going through revision just now and members will be consuleted. prob is too many barrack room lawyers

Re: 1 in 4 sats part 2!
can't union reps get paid then? Why can't some of our subs go to giving them a bit of extra money. That way if they're not up to the job then they can get voted out and will lose the extra money this would hopefully make the rep's more interested to do a better job and for the good reps then they get a bit of extra money that they deserve. Having said all that the reps are doing the best they can and the people who are to blame for the state we find ourselves in now are the people who voted yes on the 2010 deal. People took the short sighted view of getting a lump sum and now it's biting us all on the a$$.

I can't speak for all areas but our unit reps get to attend a minimum of 4 meetings/year. They get £25 expenses for each meeting plus a xmas "bonus" of approx. £50.madmartin wrote:can't union reps get paid then?
Most do it for the love and respect of their members and not any financial gain.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: 1 in 4 sats part 2!
I think it's naive to think that not consulting the members is simply down to a lack of training.
I think it's even more naive to believe that paying reps will do anything other than attract the kind of people we really don't want representing our members.
