Georoute/Pegasus - Shite
Just had list posted up in our office regarding how long our existing walks are occording to the georoute/pegasus computer program. The list is being used to ascertain which duties can absorb and which cannot.
Its been the topic of conversationa all week as to how absurdly inaccurate this program can be.
Theres one particular walk which, in my experience takes just over 4 hours, pegasus has down as 2hrs 40mins.
Similarly another duty which, only 5 weeks ago took me 2hrs 35 mins on my day off, pegasus has down as 3hrs 40mins.
Apparently everything has been accounted for.
Is the future of deliveries really going to be planned using this?
Word round the campfire is some walks in the impending revision have gone from 650 drops to just under 1000 including drivers packets etc.
Where is the time going to come from to complete these monster walks and how big are the frames going to be?

Who done all this then? You haven't mentioned on here that it was being done.Remember we are being told that if you put s**t in s**t will come out.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Georoute/Pegasus - Shite
The snag is, I am sure, that RM are pressing ahead with the changes without many staff/reps being fully conversant with the tools and guidelines and consequently errors are being made, certainly in the main unintentionally but then again managers can be somewhat devious.POSTMAN wrote:Who done all this then? I was speaking to one of the reps this week and he said that all this georoute/pegasus is a 100 percent accurate......And what ever it churns out we have to go with it.
Sound like we are shafted again

It all depends on the call rate, attendace call rate and speeds if gfeo route comes out with any thing resmbling reality .
I bet my D.O has far more generous settings than what has been used in pickaname's D.O.

Re: Georoute/Pegasus - Shite
We were told that geo route speeds will be set to 6.3kph for trolleys and that it is extremely unlikely for more rounds to be added once the revision is done.
So what have they done with the extra hour a week all 150 of us lose, and time for prepping d2d?

Well I read the whole of the agreement several times and do you know I never once noted less work for the hour shorter working week but I stand to be corrected if it is mentioned somewhere, although having said that there are one or two outstanding issues still being discussedPostal1 wrote:We were told that geo route speeds will be set to 6.3kph for trolleys and that it is extremely unlikely for more rounds to be added once the revision is done.

It has been known for planners to "forget" to enter replenishment and travel times. Hey presto a 4.5 hr walk comes out as 3.5 hr on their neat printout.

Re: Georoute/Pegasus - Shite
Exactly. Georoute isn't shite, it's the information fed into it that can be. It puts our walks at an average of 3.30 and they're nowhere near, the new 4.15 CDV walks aren't 4.15 either, looks like we'll be frequent visitors to the sandwich shop so we don't get back early.POSTMAN wrote:Who done all this then? makes you wonder how part timers which is ever growing will manage to get in, prep up delivery and d2d's, bag up, get out on delivery, do 4hrs 15mins delivery plus their meal relief. Then get back and book in returns and vehicle?
especially the ones on 30hr contracts or lower

Re: Georoute/Pegasus - Shite
They also don't take into account how much mail you will get on your round, everyday I get at least 2 boxes of letters more than all the other rounds in our office, then on busy days I get can get upto 4 or 5 more and thats not including flats. Some rounds then get out an hour before me cause they have little mail. So even if the walk times are 3 and a half hours long (more like 5 hours) thats is still other rounds having done an hour of delivery before I've even left the office. What happened to FAIR and EVEN workload for everyone?

Re: Georoute/Pegasus - Shite
You can't make every walk fair and equal. At the same time, you can't trust a computer to calculate with numbers something that is real and that exists in reality. However, it's easier for people to just look at a computer nowadays and pretend that that is what constitutes reality. You and I (that means all of you) and every other postman are the only ones who know what's what and for what reason.

Re: Georoute/Pegasus - Shite
Georoute is only ever a guide - there are way too many variables in the data input to be taken as Gospel.
It depends greatly on the quality of the base data - Is A+ spot, are all delivery points properly allocated, is the road network correct, are paths properly allocated.
Are call points accurate - terraced house with path, block of flats etc.
Sid n Sarah where the duty holder is taken through the proposed duty is absolutely ESSENTIAL despite DOM's saying they don't have the time for it and finally
The duty must be physically tested - if it's not acurate it needs tro be changed.
If it's not don't let the Rep sign off at phase 4.
This is a local negotiators agreement so Negotiate.
In Scotland a few of the Area reps have done some digging and it seems that the previous unattainable walk speeds have not been altered as agreed with HQ. We have flagged this up and are awaiting a response.
