This has been asked for before and we haven't got it unless someone new has copies, perhaps an email to CWU H&S dept might be your best.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Isn't this covered in the Sortation Automation Deployment Guidelines?

hi
i have read the sortation automation deployment guide which this is from. Its a very vague document around the general role of the operators.I was looking for a more specific SOP which would detail
a specific job description. It possibly doesnt exist then.Good advice about contacting hq.
Management under wcm are now getting the feeder of the machine to be involved in the cut and tip operation ,that is why i need specifics .Disagreement in place i believe by the rep

All we have is the basic 3 operators on our machines - NO PORTERS.....

The feeder has to go and retrieve the work themselves...... :Very Happy
And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.

You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

There were rumours of trying this in my MC, which were promptly dealt with since the feeder is the only person close to a power kill switch, for safety reasons, plus workload issues.

Is this in conjunction with the so called 'tiger tables'?

my rep spoke to an engineer and he found the sop for the ilsm. The roles are quite clearly defined and there is a zone of responsibility for the infeed operator around the front of the machine and jams. The kill switch is something i didnt know about it. Thanks

From the photo in that article (found via a google search), there are emergency stop buttons at regular intervals along the machine so I can't see any issues with that

Yeah, those are lockable stop buttons.

At the feeder, directly underneath the touchscreen (probably hidden by separator cards) is the remote power kill button, the one you are told to never press on your training. The main one is at the other end of the machine on the electrical cabinet, it's a red and yellow turn switch.

Takes less time to yell at the feeder than it does to run all the way to the EC and hit that one.

Why are operators even touching the remote power kill buttons, shouldn't they only be operated by the engineers?
