You've got the right idea, smart but not too formal - no need for a tie but no EDL baseball cap or anything like that.karchun wrote:I know this may be the wrong section but i can't find a relevant area - anyway what should i wear for the interview as a postman - do i need to wear a full suit or something - i was thinking on the lines of plain black trousers and white shirt - is that enough???

The usual questions are aleady listed on this forum, as follows ;
1. Have you ever been in a position of trust by someone giving you something to look after?
2. Give an example of when you worked as part of a team.
3. Give an example of when you had to work on your own initiative.
4. How would you deal with an customer who is not happy with the service they have received?
5. How do you keep yourself fit?
6. Give an example of when you worked to a deadline.
7. Have you ever done a repetitive job before and what did you do to make it easier?
so it's all about integrity, honesty, responsibility, asking your manager if you're not sure and referring things up if necesary and conscientiousness, like doing that bit extra when necessary
Good luck.
The first couple of weeks are like being thrown in at the depp end but it gets better.

OKay thanks - so should i just wear white shirt and black trousers to the interview...by the way how does only 7 Qs make up 45 min. of interview lol ;)You've got the right idea, smart but not too formal - no need for a tie but no EDL baseball cap or anything like that.![]()

Re: What to wear for my RM interview - as a postman???
I wore jeans (black, not scruffy ones) and a regular shirt, blue. Don't look too smart or it'll look like you wouldn't tolerate marching around in bad weather for long! It's different all over the place I suppose, but for me it was mostly an informal chat with the boss who every so often returned to his checklist of mandatary questions (what the van checks should be, what's good and bad about working in a team, etc. everything written above)
I don't think there can be a list of 'right' answers as the manager would presumably be trying to reckon on how each candidate would fit in with the team there, and also how they'd cope with the pressures of the job. There were 10 applicants for the one job but I don't think I said anything really spectacular, just relaxed and chatted normally, answering honestly.

That will be fine - basically smart casual with or without a tie is OK.karchun wrote:Ermm thx for your reply people but my parents brought me a tie and a pair of nice shoes!!! Full DJ and dickie bow, or an Armani Suit with Gucci shoes and a "man" bag is probably going to far towards smart. Blue Jeans and T shirt is going to far the other. I wore a light blue shirt and plain tie with dark trousers and a £10 pair of black shoes.

Good luck mate. Bear in mind that it can take ages to hear back from them - I think it was over 3 weeks later that the website was updated from just saying 'attended interview' and I'd all but given up on it. Took almost 6 weeks from interview to starting work I think.
