FAKE ROYAL MAIL EMAIL DUMPS VIRUS ON CARLISLE WOMAN'S COMPUTER http://www.newsandstar.co.uk/news/fake- ... up_1_50001" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Internet users are being warned to be vigilant after a Carlisle woman's computer contracted a virus when opening an email supposedly from Royal Mail.
Sharon Atkinson, from Currock, found the email in the ‘junk’ folder of her account.
It said that a package for her had been wrongly addressed and that she had to follow a link to find out more information. When she did so, the virus affected her machine.
A spokesperson for Royal Mail has advised caution for anyone who receives such an e-mail: “Royal Mail does not send unsolicited emails to customers regarding items of mail which we have been unable to deliver.
“If the postman or woman is unable to deliver a parcel to a customer they will leave a card which explains how to arrange a redelivery or where to collect the item.”
If any customer has any concerns regarding Royal Mail products or services they can contact the customer services team on 08457 740 740 or visit http://www.royalmail.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for more details.
