RESIDENTS of Chalfont St Peter are up in arms after serious disruptions to their post.
People living in certain areas, especially the Chalfont Common side of the village, have gone several days without post, and some of them have resorted to going to the sorting office in Gerrards Cross to pick up their own mail because they are tired of waiting for it to be delivered to their home.
It is believed that the problems have been caused by a series of cuts at Royal Mail, meaning that there are fewer postal workers in the area to deliver mail.
Kevin Richards, who lives in the Chalfont Common area, said: "We've gone nearly a week without post now, and it's very frustrating. I run a business from home, and I've been waiting for important documents.
"It's ridiculous, I rely on post coming to my home for my business to work, and at the moment it's a real problem for me.
"I saw a postman the other day and asked him what was going on, and he told me that delivery men from other areas were being moved into this area because of cuts.
"It basically means that the post men in this area are being over worked because they are covering their original areas, plus this one.
"The other problem is, the postmen who have been drafted in don't know this area at all, and they have been asking people where certain roads are.
"This has meant a lot of post has been going to the wrong addresses, or not delivered at all."
Royal Mail failed to respond to the Advertiser in time for this week's deadline.
The resident added: "We need to get this sorted out as quickly as possible, because a lot of people like me rely on the post every day.
"At the moment, the service is terrible, and it can't go on."

Would it have mattered if he did?bexhil palace wrote:Hope mateyboy supported the last strikes.

Enough of us supported the strikes in 2009, as well as, 2007, 2003, and every strike back to 1997, and look at us now!
What have we gained? How has our job improved from what it was like in 1997? Are we more secure in our jobs now, than in '97?
Even if that union had, had 100% support from colleagues, the treacherous vermin at the top table would still have betrayed us, just as they surely did in 2003, 2007, and 2009.
We could all strike, all the way from now to doomsday, and we will never emerge victorious from any major battle with the vermin currently infesting the RM boardroom, not with this union we won't.

Totally agree Harry, but my point was,we went on strike not for more money, but to stop, and also highlight the wholesale destruction
of the service ,by the aforementioned vermin in RM.
Now i wonder if the writer at the time backed our fight ?,or was it as i suspect only when it directly affected him,did he actually bother to find
out why we are in such a parlous state?
