The CWU has a policy of protecting Full Time positions as much as possible, but with the introduction of longer than six hour deliveries being muted is it still a policy you would support.

I was delivering for over six hrs today, some on OT. Just plodded along.

Am I missing something or is this only going to be a prob for people rushing around to get done early? I carried no heavy weights and took no risks.

Just chilling now in the evening, watching telly, not exhausted or nothing.

I am in my 40s btw, before I get accused of being a zippy youngster.

Would they? How do you know that?
I wouldn't.
There would be immediate financial repercussions for me and my family and a long term knock on effect regarding pensions.

As a 58 year old 28 yr service,I can categorically say longer than 4 1/2 hrs is on a long term basis unacceptable.I am worn out,we are not on bikes but now Walk the entire delivery.so 6 hrs is madness.

Problem is that 6 hr del on a planners computer will equate to nearer 7 hrs in the real world. The values used on the software have always been unachievable but nobody wants to address this. That's why any talk of six hour deliveries fill most posties with dread.

Agreed. Yes, a few FT jobs may not be offered but surely health is more important? Studies and tests have already shown that walking 4.5 hours for 30/35 days before your rota week off or 5/7 days for weeks on end is having negative effects especially musculoskeletal injury and excessive wear and tear. Any increase in walk-hours would be insane. Our bodies aren't capable of taking this sort of punishment for decades. If you get a new car and look after it and do say 8k miles a year it would likely last near 20 years with no major parts needing replacement. Get the same car and do 30k miles per year, how long would you expect it to last without major repair?

And those now who aren't in any pain and say "what's the problem?" - most of you will be eventually.

I would love to be in your office mate, you must have an easy job, we are pushed to the limit in our office.

6 hour deliveries? The people on 30 hours in our office are supposed to come in, bundle up and deliver. 30mins break, 30 mins bundle, travel time etc leaves you with a 4.5 hour delivery.

Are they going to put the part timers on 7 hours 48 per day to do the 6 hours or just carry on [in theory] as they do now?

We're currently having a revision. More full timers, less walk time.
