Re: hgv courses with cwu
I have just spoken to Chester and they say this HGV training information is correct.
I then phoned my branch again and they said they have never heard of a scheme involving HGV training.
Thank God I don't have to rely on my branch for information.

I think it was mentioned a while back that it will eventually get rolled out nationally. I hope so because I'd go for it.

I would save your money, before I came to RM I was a hgv1 driver for 14 years, big double sleeper Daf truck 3 or 4 nights out a week, sounds great but not in reality, impossible deadlines to meet, racing against traffic, falling out with the wife and kids because you are so tired after a weeks driving, trying to find somewhere safe at night to park up,getting pestered by pikeys to sell them some diesel, waking up in the morning nowhere to have a wash, finding out the pikeys have visited you in the night and drilled your fuel tank, cut your curtains and rifled your load, then you've got the police and their spotchecks, motorways being closed because some dickheads suitcase has come off his roofrack and there clothes have caused an accident, finally getting to a big supermarket distribution centre and waiting 5 hours to get unloaded and explaining to your wife that you cannot take her out for that meal you promised because you ran out of hours and are forced to park in a laybye that hundreds of motorists have used as a toilet, then trying to get to sleep in a cab in these temperatures, honestly don't bother its a terrible job.
