Enquiry Offices – Extended Hours

Post by TrueBlueTerrier »

No. 346/2010
Ref. 530/L11.46
Date: 23rd April 2010

Dear Colleague

Enquiry Offices – Extended Hours

Further to LTB 279/10 circulated on the 31st March 2010 regarding the above, we received two suggestions for additions to the list sent out, Newport IOW DO and Diss DO.

Following a positive meeting with Royal Mail, it has now been agreed to add these to the Wave 2 list so the final list has now been agreed. The number of Wave 1 offices has been reduced from the initial 150 to around 89 due to building and resourcing issues. These will go live on 1st May 2010 with the remaining offices moved to Wave 2.

We have also agreed the process to be followed before the offices go live, which is estimated to be mid-July at the earliest. An initial questionnaire will be sent to Delivery Office Managers (DOM) during May aimed at establishing what, if any, additional work will be needed to comply with the Health & Safety requirements. Area H&S Representatives will need to ensure that Unit Representatives are fully involved with this because this will determine the go live date for each individual office. Discussions will then take place between the DOM, Unit Representative and H&S Rep to identify any further issues that need to be resolved such as resourcing and lone working.

The extra hours involved for the extended opening should first be resourced through SA or increased hours for part-time staff prior to any new Enquiry Office staff being appointed. All negotiations should be dealt with using the IR Framework and Way Forward Agreement.

All enquiries regarding the content of this LTB should be addressed as appropriate to Bob Gibson, Assistant Secretary Outdoor Department quoting reference number 530 or Martin Collins, Assistant Secretary Indoor Department quoting reference number L11.46.

Yours sincerely

Bob Gibson Martin Collins
